Dilation (or dilatation) and curettage (D&C)
I had a miscarrage, on March 16th I had a DNC but I have still not had a period. Is this normal ? I am worried but doc keeps saying everyone is differant.
Dilation (or dilatation) and curettage (D&C)
While I never had a D&C, after my miscarriage, my periods stayed away until I was supposed to have my baby(six months two weeks before it returned), and it was frustrating. The next one was less difficult, as apparently I became pregnant shortly after, then again after that, then I had my son.
Your doctor is correct in everyone being different. Relax, take care of your health, and everything will return to normal before you know it. Stress also will affect your cycles more than you may realise. Pamper yourself and don't concentrate on little things. Take care.
I asked my dad who is an ob-gyn and he said to make sure you're not pregnant...in other words, if you have had sex after the d&c you could possibly be pregnant again. If that is not possible, he too said not to worry. This is normal for some women. It can take a long time for things to return to normal.
I have had 2 d&c's myself. After each one my period did return about a month later however my schedule was totally messed up. After that first period then I got it again 2 weeks later, etc.
Try not to stress :) (always easier said than done)
Doctor knows best. I agree everyone is different. I too had a DNC and quite frankly never had a period as I became pregnant w/i two months of the DNC. Just keep an eye out for other troublesome symptoms, your body will get back to it's rythym in it's own time.
I had a miscarriage but no DNC. It was my 3rd pregnancy and ended pretty quickly. Several months passed before I had a period. I was worried too but eventually it comes back. I am very light but when I started that day I was wearing white dress pants and boy did the floods come! Why does that always happen lol! Anyways, relax and let your body catch up. It has been through a lot and it will take some time and patience to get back to it's rhythm.
