I am trying to help a friend who lives in Orlando get in contact with a support group for the loss of a sibling. He is an adult and lost a brother who was a teenager. Does anyone know of any reputable groups?

What can I do next?

I don't know of anything, but just wanted to share my prayers... and also to thank you for being such a good friend! 18 months ago I lost my brother who was a week shy of his 22nd birthday at the time... outside of my family no one seemed to recognize that losing a sibling is a major deal. It may not be the same as losing a child, but it's emotionally VERY difficult to deal with. Kuddos to you for recognizing that and stepping in to help!

I lost my brother 11 months ago and found a support group through a local church. They actually put me in a group of people who had also lost a sibling and it was very helpful to talk with others who had gone through the same thing, even though they all had different circumstances. Please convey my sympathies to your friend. It has been a very difficult time for me and I've found myself moving away from friends who don't get what I'm going through and have been very thankful for the friends who have helped me get through this terrible time. You're doing an amazing thing just being there for your friend...don't stop what you're doing. I don't know how long ago this happened, but for me it's been almost a year and it really hasn't gotten any easier. The best thing you can do is be there.
