if you haven't gotten that stain out with the other ideas...try a little lighter fluid on a paper towel. I would use it as a last resort, though. My mom used to drive a truck and she would get axle grease on her clothes. She always used lighter fluid to remove it. it always took it right out. Hope something works for you.

Try Grease Lightening. This stuff took Red Fingernail polish out of my carpet. You can find it in the cleaner isle at Wal-mart or any similar store.

My husband owns an auto repair shop where oil and grease gets on the showroom rugs from the guys' shoes. He uses Firestone brand carpet and upholstery cleaner. It may be a longshot but if you can get your hands on any professional strength automotive grease cleaner, I would try it inside the closet, or in unnoticeable spot, first. I'm sure it would work. It took red kool-aid, set-in stain out of my kitchen counter top in seconds!

Miranda,

I have been in the carpet industry for over 20 years. I just switched careers, but the best thing to get grease out of carpet is a product called Solv-oil I'm not sure who makes it. But you can usually find it in home furnishing stores that sell carpet. It has avery strong citrus aroma when you use it, so be sure to have good ventilation. You mght also try the internet for places that might sell it. I had a similar incident when my kids were little and tracked greasy footprints throughout the 1st floor of our home. Solv-oil was the only thing that worked for me. Good luck!!!

This may sound strange at first, but try a little Goo-B-Gone on a small spot to see if it comes out. If it does, then use a bucket or pan of HOT soapy water (be sure to rinse soap out well) to remove the Goo-B-Gone. Good luck

I would contact ZEROREZ carpet cleaners they are totally awesome about getting everything and anything out of carpets. They don't use any chemicals so it will be totally safe in the toy room. Also, it you use any product to clean it that spot will always be the quickest to get dirty or look stained again.

Good Luck!

Windex does work on stains. I've tried it but not on greese so I hope it works for you.

Sounds weird, but I've been told that Windex is the world's best carpet stain remover. Never tried it, but it might be worth a try in your case!

Vinegar works great to take out grease stains. Dilute about a cup of white vinegar in about 4 cups hot water and pour some on the spot. Let it sit for about a minute and then blot with paper towels. It should take it right out, but depending on how big it is you may need to repeat the steps again. And the vinegar smell will go away as soon as it dries.

I would try a mixture of warm water, dawn dish detergent, and vinegar. This was always my mother's super stain remover and it works very well. I can't give measurments, I take an icecream bucket, fill with warm/hot water, squirt in the dawn (and it has to be Dawn, not any other brand) and I just pour some vinegar in there -maybe a 1/2 cup? Dawn is great for removing grease and there is just something about the vinegar that helps. Good luck!

I haven't seen it lately, but there used to be a carpet cleaner called Tech that got out a lot of stuff other carpet cleaners didn't, such as ink. It was liquid and came in a white squeeze bottle. However, since it is all over the room I would probably call a professional carpet cleaner. I know a good one if you need a name. Good luck.

Hi Miranda,

If you want to know more about some fantasic products that get close to anything out let me know. My hubby was polishing his harley boots with "black shoe polish" in our beige carpeting in ouir living room with of course nothing under the shoes, when the top came off and spilled the polish all over th ecarpeting. We have been using these products for quite some time. so we really didn't yell or get upset. He jsut called my name and I said what did you do now? LOL! He quick got the products he needed and the stain was gone!

It's non-toxic so it didn't harm the carpeting and I know that my furry little pets won't be harmed in any way either.

We have been buying these products for over 8 years. I have less arguements with my kids when they were growing up, we saved money becasue we didn't have to throw things out if they had crayon marks or permanenet magic marker all over them. We just cleaned them out.

I even got acrylic white paint out of my little black dress! a year after it happened!

I can tell ya this! There was a lot less arguing in our home.

Many blessings! let me know! :-}

Try Dawn dish soap and warm/hot water and start scrubbing. Dawn takes grease out of my clothes all the time. Hopefully that will help.

We recently got some greasy spots out of our carpet with Dawn Dishsoap and a scrub brush. Then we rinsed it and it was much improved.

Good Luck

Try using dawn dishsoap (soapy water) and see if that will bring it up and out.

Try Greased Lightening. It is an all purpose cleaner and degreaser. I would just spray it on and then try wiping with a damp cloth; maybe even a dry cloth to get the grease up. I use this in my laundry and general cleaning, I love it. I don't blame you for being upset, I go balistic everytime someone refuses to take their shoes off when coming in our house on the carpet. Good luck.
