We are expecting our first child this December and are planning on using a green alternative to traditional diapers and other baby care products. Can anyone recommend a "brick and mortar" store in the greater Atlanta area or a great online retailer that offers a variety of diaper solutions and baby care products.

Thank you!

Have you looked at Rainbow Natural Foods in Decatur? It's at Clairmont and N. Decatur. Also, Whole Foods carries many "green" and natural baby products as does Return To Eden on Cheshire Bridge. Sevenanda in L5P carries some items AND is a great resource for finding other places -just talk to the employees and look on their boards. Even Target carries Burt's Bees and California Baby products. You should google Atlanta Green Baby -there are tons of stores that specialize in organic cotton clothing and there are cloth diaper services in Atlanta.

There's a great soap maker who uses all-natural products in Decatur off of E. College and Sams street -right before the Marta walking bridge. It's where you turn to go to Leapin' Lizards (a place you will become well-acquainted with in a year or two). I can't remember the exact name, but it's something like Soap Mama or Simple Mama -it has Mama in the title and is behind The Cookie Studio. REALLY great natural body care and she does do baby care products.

I just started using gDiapers and love them! You can find them at a lot of BabiesRUs stores or online, I think the website is www.gdiapers.com. I have found that many of the stores in my area that offer baby stuff usually have somewhat of a small collection of eco-friendly options as well.

You really have to figure out what products you want to use and then find them. We used 7th generation diapers from Whole Foods, but will use cloth this time - like Fuzzi Bunz or Bum Genius that makes an all organic one. California Baby products are great but expensive...they even carry them at Target now. New Baby products on Chesire Bridge has a few green things, but read your labels carefully. Their "natural" crib mattresses aren't always so natural. Try this store located here and online: http://www.theecoemporium.com/

Check out the ecoEMPORIUM booth at the Collective, they have lots of great items, the owner has done tons of research on the best quality products for raising a healthy baby.

It isn't too far from Decatur.
