I dont know if it possibly has any health related reason.
but i thinks its pretty cool, lol sorry
Hello, Ladies!
Okay, my husband and I just noticed this in the sunlight after leaving my sons' doctor appointment (or I would have asked her).
My son just turned 4. He has TWO gray (not blonde, not silver, not white - GRAY) hairs on the top of his head!
Has anyone ever heard of this? I started getting white hairs at 24, but, that's a huge difference.
This really has me worried that it might be connected to his health somehow...
I dont know if it possibly has any health related reason.
but i thinks its pretty cool, lol sorry
My son has black thick curly hair and one grey hair in back of his head. The dr said not an issue it;s hereditary. My gramps went full on white at 22 at 16 I got a white streak that sits in the perfect spot over my right temple, everyone thinks I do it on purpose and my son calls me rougue from the X-Men. Don't worry.
I found my first gray hair in 5th grade. It was cool then, not so much now... lol
I'm not sure at what age the first few appeared, but by the time I was 7 I had a streak of silver/gray in my hair. It's always been there, and usually most of my other hair covers it, but it peeks out frequently. Hair stylists have always commented on it -particularly when I was a child and teenager. It wasn't caused by any health problems.
It's 2 hairs, for pete's sake. Calm down.
When I started growing hair around 1.5 years, my mom found a number of grey hairs...she totally freaked out & took me to the doctor...she thought I had an aging disease! BUT it was just the way my hair grew...I actually ended up having highlights of every color my entire life (long before "highlights" were actually cool)! I don't blame you for worrying, but it's probably just his normal hair growth. Have a great day!
It's odd for sure, but I wouldn't worry. I knew 2 kids growing up who had hair "birthmarks". It was kinda weird, but one boy had a spot about 2 square inches that was probably 2 shades darker brown than the rest of his hair and another girl had a (huge actually, not to freak you out) patch of white hair right down the center. It could just be those two little hairs and nothing more will come of it, but if you notice more sprouting up you might check with the doctor just to be sure.
My son was born with a small gray patch of hair. He still has it at 16. It's just the way he was born and he's perfectly healthy. He actually points it out to people. He thinks it's cool!
My MIL has had a small patch of gray hair her entire life just under her right ear. since she has no other gray hair, she thinks it is really neat. While I don't know what causes it, I wouldn't worry too much unless you see additional issues arise.
I turned 30 yesterday, and am 95% WHITE haired. I noticed my 3.5 yr old son has two greys! Genetics are a , well you know. It made me think of Holden Caufield in "The Catcher in the Rye",and if my son follows suit with his mama, I just bet he'll be using a grey patch for all the wrong things, like underage drinking.
yeah, one long time friend has white hair all underneath the back of her head, she has red hair, and white hair at the back, it looks pretty wild. Everyone things is just her dying her hair, to be like a punk or something jajajaja, (she is 30 now!!! jajajaja) anyway she has never had a concerning health issue or a chronic issue, so dont panic. But regardlesss, ask your doctor, I'm sure he'll tell you its ok, but just for you to be sure!!! =)
My older daughter was 4 when my hairdresser found two gray hairs on her head. She said it's not that uncommon, just that most people don't notice it. She's now changed her hair color so many times I wouldn't know where to look to see if they're still there! (she's 22)
Hey K.---I work with a Naturopath who has her PhD in Nutrition. She is constantly asked all kinds of questions about how the diet impacts health, and of course, hair turning grey or white has come up.
An optimal diet has no impact on when or how much of the hair turns gray. So, you don't have to worry about that. I would, however, look up why hair turns gray on the internet. There are some people who have blonde patches in dark hair and vice-versa. I would have to say it's most likely nothing.
Have fun with it, if you can. Take care. D.
Your question is interesting because I just found a really thick solid gray hair on my 4 year old son's head of brown hair about 3 weeks ago and kind of freaked. A close friend said her son had 1-2 when he was 3 or 4, and I think they fell out over time, and he's 40 now and still mostly dark headed. Another friend told me about a 5 year old girl with a streak of gray hair. Apparently, it's somewhat normal, but I had never heard of it or seen it before either. I started wondering if he had that aging disease and all kinds of things... typical mom, I guess?!?!?!? lol
