Hi J.!

We got ours direct deposit, not long after receiving our tax refund. Its definitely not a hoax. For us it was a life saver. I didn't think California recognized Holistic medicine, are you receiving a degree here? Although its too late, most my kids are already vaccinated, I would be interested in reading legitimate anti vaccination information. Take care and enjoy you check, it is coming.
We haven't received ours, but I have friends who have. So I guess it's not a hoax, but we haven't seen anything.
We got ours the first week that they were sent out. My husband found out that they are sent out in order of ssn. It is also the primary tax payer whos ssn is used. We got ours quick because we picked teh direct deposit option my husband has a ssn that ends in 0. So it should be here soon. we also got a letter saying that we would get it. If you did not get a letter you may not have qualifed to get it. My parents did not get one because they make too much money. really stupid but that is the goverment

Yes!
We got ours the beginning of this week. You can look up on the IRS website and according to your Social Security number, it will direct you to when the check was supposed to be sent out. I think they say to give it 6 weeks before hitting the panic button.

Yes this is true. If your tax refund went direct deposit this will too. I received a post card letter saying that is would be received by this a particular date. The money was already in our account before the date and a few day before I got the card. They do come out by SSN order.
We got ours. It's based on the last two digits of the SSN of main tax return filer in your house. the schedule is here: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=180247,00.html
I believe it may also depend somewhat on your tax income bracket but I'm not 100% sure of that.
Our arrived on time and we're donating it to a few local, youth organizations.
hey jen, it's S.! how are ya? i hear that the gov't stimulus check is an advance on next year's tax return, so it stimulates the economy NOW, but really screws ya in the end (which, frankly, i believe my current gov't more capable of then actually coming up with some "free" money to give us given our gross national debt) - so spend it wisely, because it's your money if you were to get a return on your 2008 taxes, and you'll owe it if you don't have enough of a return next year to cover the advance - that's what i hear!
peace and smiles :)
Go to irs.gov there is a workshhet you can fill out to see how much and when you are getting your check - I was surprised to find out that my partner wasn't getting one, he made too much money - I think over 75,000.or 100,000.and you don't get one.
I haven't gotten mine yet. I did get a "notice" in May saying I should have it in six weeks or so so I check the mail daily! I do know about three people who have gotten theirs so I believe they're coming! You can call this number to check on it: 866-234-2942.
We got ours too, it is based on the last 2 digits of your SSN. You do not have to claim it on next years tax return either.
My husband and I both got ours put directly into our checking account. If you look it up online, you can see when to expect yours by your social security number. If you paid/got a return online through automatic deposit you should have already gotten it, if you paid or got your return via snail mail in a check. Online will tell you when to expect yours!! Not a hoax, promise!!
Hi J.,
I think you got enough responses to convince you it's not a hoax. I wanted to advise you, however, that the one or two people who said this is an advance on next year's return or that the government is doing this to mess you up in some way are totally incorrect. The money is yours, no claiming it as income on 2008 income tax and it's not deducted. It is the government trying to stimulate the economy, for the benefit of all.
