Goodie Bag Ideas - Waterbury,CT

Here's an idea for a "goody bag".... round latex, blown up with helium and tied. Called a 'balloon', most kids absolutely LOVE them. And moms do too, because once the helium is gone after a few days, you can throw the thing away and not grow mounds of cheap plastic toy parts in the bottom of the kids' closet.

Skip the goodie bags. Most moms really don't like them. Coloring book and crayons, sidewalk chalk, that kind of thing is a lot better than candy, etc. The dollar store is a great resource. They even have those foam stickers and things to do crafty stuff. Enjoy!

I usually buy goodie bag stuffers at the dollar store, but I don't buy candy. I try to get something they can use. For example, last year I put a kite, princess hair brush, color crayons, bubbles, and pencils and erasers. My kids were obviously older than your 2 year old, but I'm sure you can find things that will be age appropriate.

The only things I don't like to see brought home in a goodie bag is a bunch of candy. Even the little dollar store toys are not an annoyance and it always surprises me how much fun my GD can have with those little toys. And since they are dollar store items, I don't feel bad when I throw them away because she never puts them away!

I really hate goody bags. We always end up throwing that stuff away after a week... think about it - it was all manufactured in China... shipped across the ocean... only to end up in our landfills. What a waste of resources.

I vote - coloring books or coloring pages printed form the internet... maybe a homemade treat - one Mom I know gave out rice crispie bars. Stickers are Ok too.

I go to the dollar store when I want inexpensive and find it to be ok and have yet to get any complaints. I won't but any of the generic toys but I buy the minature coloring book's and crayon's, they also have little sticker book's that I have purchased. I don't do alot of candy so I'll buy fruit snacks and granola bars (the mini one's), I even do the mini goldfish cracker packages. I try not to invest so much on the goodie bags only because alot of the mom's here always say they end up tossing it in the trash a week later. Hopefully I was a bit helpful! Ps...for our daughters 4th birthday, I found sesame street coloring books at our local dollar tree and they even had the matching crayons! Happy Birthday to your little one!

One of my friends did books. I know Target often has cute little books in their Dollar Bins. My kids love bubbles & rubber duckies. (Oriental Trading has lots of themed rubber duckies. We have cowboy and Christmas and I'm about to buy St Patrick's day for our son's third birthday). They also love the little tubs of play doh. The kids at your party might be too young, but it's something to keep in mind for the future. Stickers and tattoos are popular.

If you have a theme in mind, sometimes you can get a mixed bag of about 50 items from Oriental Trading. It's a surprise what's in teh bag, but I did this for my son's Cowboy Party for his 4th birthday. Our bag included slap bracelets, rubber duckies, bouncy balls and tattoos.

For the kindergarten Christmas party I found rubber stamps, pencils, erasers, rubber duckies, bouncy balls, stickers.

Oriental Trading has lots of ideas.

A recent bday party, the mom gave out "presents" to each guest, wrapped up Zhu Zhu pets! That was a little pricier I think but a super nice thing. Another mom gave out $5 movie gift certificates to each kid. Super nice! (Probably could get a discount on that if you're buying in bulk).

I like some kind of favor or goodie bag, and I always try to do non junky crappy items.

An idea could be goodies like:

punching balloons (you can get them at the dollar store)
playdoh and cookie cutters for them

I hate goodie bags too but I don't want to send the kiddos off empty handed. One year we made crafts from oriental trading company for the party. I put their name on a paper bag to put their crafts in and that was their goodie bag. On other ocassions i have just gotten $2 gift certificates from Baskin Robbins and called it good. If you have a photo printer you can take pictures of each kid, print them up and let them make/decorate a frame for it out of construction paper. You could give them a bag with their name on it and let them make stuff to fill it up. Even easy peasy stuff like drawings, etc. I love home made, easy and cheap!

One of the best gifts we got at a party instead of a goodie bag (which just gets thrown away after a day or two) was a large plastic bouncing ball. My son still has it and uses it and even though we haven't seen the child in over a year still identifies it as from Connor. You can probably get them in the dollar store.

You got a lot of good ideas here. I totally agree with a ball..but not the little bouncy annoying kind. Kind of like a kickball size or beach ball. Another fun thing at that age is a hand clapper you can find at Party City. My sons both loved them and they aren't too annoying.

We did a balloon tied around a sippi cup filled with goldfish. The kids loved it. We have also done a gift card for a small ice cream at our local ice cream shop - cost about $1.50 for each one. have fun!
