Hi all,
My daughter's 2nd birthday is coming up and it's a ladybug theme. I'm getting gift bags together for the kids but have never done this before so I was hoping you could give me some ideas as to what and how much I should put in each bag.
Thanks!

As a mom I HATE all those little toys that come in goodie bags. I give a balloon tied to a book. All kids love books and balloons. Happy Birthday to your daughter.
Something they can actually use - not cheap junky little toys that will either break or get lost. I like to do something like coloring books and crayons, stickers, stamps, playdoh and cookie cutters (you can get 100 cookie cutters for $10 at bed, bath and beyond) or make a CD of your daughter's favorite songs.
Think about whether you would want it around your house or not and how much your child would actually enjoy playing with it.
Hmmm, we never did gift bags till my daughter was 6. I'd say don't bother. It's not necessary. If you really want to though, I'd go to the dollar store & get coloring books, or bubbles, or little books. I wouldn't spend much on them.
We prefer no gift bags on mamasource generally, especially for that age range. But a little thing of playdough or bubbles or little watercolor favors with a red and black polka dot bow and a lady bug sticker on it would be totally adorable and fitting to your theme!
You could find cute sand buckets that are red and then put black dots all over it and maybe some cute eyes and a polka dot ribbon as well. Then fill it with maybe some large washable crayons and then roll up some printed ladybug themed coloring pages that you can easily find online and maybe a small snack like some puffs tied up cute.
Glow sticks, lady bug stickers and a kids' trowel from the dollar store? I always throw glow sticks in - they are inexpensive and kids LOVE them. Have fun!
Not a fan of the goody bag, in general, but these Keebler Graham Bug Bites came to mind:

Bubbles, magnifying glass, bug observation cages....
I get cute, inexpensive stuff from Oriental Trading-right now they have fun spring stuff-likely lots of ladybug stuff!! Www.orientaltrading.com
I guess we didn't got gift bags until we started having parties with school friends that we didnt' know very well. never did them for just family.
with the under two crowd you need to be very mindful of choking hazards. I might find some cute snacks i think keebler makes some graham cracker cookies that look like bugs.
stickers, maybe, little mcdonalds vouchers for free cones etc with some bug stickers on them or something.
I love the dollar store/ dollar section in Target. For my son's recent 2nd birthday party, I did plastic pails with bug net/magnifying glass set (1 dollar at Target), bottle of bubbles, 2plastic bugs (sell pack of 10 at target for 1 dollar), and a sheet of stickers (4 sheets for a dollar). I think I also saw some sesame street themed books about bugs. I never do candy. Yes, I admit, I go overboard on these goodie bags but I have fun shopping for them and we have the kids help make them. Pretty young at 2, but we start teaching them very early to say thank you.
I was just at Target today. I had to steer clear away from the $1 section because there are just too many cute spring things! Hope the party goes great!
