Our daughter always wore a Black elastic ponytail band on her wrist to remind her of good luck. This started in middle school when those block initials came on bands.

She is in college and when we see pictures of her on facebook and see that band on her wrist, we know what it means..

This may just fit your need perfectly. My daughter is doing a fundraiser for her church and is selling "I Believe" necklaces for $10 each. They are very pretty. And it is a simple way for you to let them know that you believe in them as well as they believe in themselves. You can email me at ____@____.com and I can send you a picture of them to see if they are what your looking for.

When I was in highschooll and tried out for drill team my mom got me a "care box" of drill team things that I could have still used afterwards. For example: new ponytail holders b/c we wore our hairup so much, hairspray, new tennis shoes for tryouts (we wore Keds, yeah it's been a few years), some new makeup (had to wear bright lipstick and I did not and neither did she), new dance tights. Stuff like that. Of course a card saying no matter what she loved me. I was thrilled, it meant a lot that she knew the little things that would give me a little more self confidence and that extra boost. They were all useful things whether I made the team or not.

If you'd like to buy them something why not take a look at a James Avery shop. You can shop online then search for a location near you to buy from.

They have the cutest little charms and they are usually pretty inexpensive. then after they make the drill team, they will have something to wear on a regular basis!

Good luck to your girls!

My boys have all had to try our for spots or run for office over the years. I have never given them anything (no material possession) for luck.
I have said a prayer with them before hand and told them I would be praying for them at the time of their try-out, or speech, or interview....
My belief is that praying with and for them will bring them the peace and calm they need and teaches them something for later in life.

My question would be: if they don't make the team, what do they do with the item you bought? Are they angry and throw it away or ????

That's a great idea mom! That's a great way to let them know you are with them every step of the way. James Avery has a huge selection of really nice charms. You can buy online or they stores in lots of malls. I suggest a differant one for each girl (nothing drill related) so that they know they each have thier unique place in the world and in your heart. Present them individually or write a personal note with each one as to why that charm was chosen especially for her and why it will give that girl the courage needed. Good Luck to you and the girls.
