Personalized stationery is always a nice gift. Graduates will be busy writing thank you notes.
These note cards are fun for any use...

A dear friend of ours is graduating high school and lives far out of state. I so wish we could see this momentus occaision, but we just do not have the funds to do so. I would like to get her a gift that means something that shows we care, nothing corny. Does anyone have an idea?
My hubby and I got her a gift card and we also plan on taking her out to dinner when she moves back into our area. Thank you so much for all your suggestions.

The Gift Store in Southlake, on 1709 and Davis Blvd.in the Albertson's shopping center, has unique gifts for graduates. Last year my daughter received a ceramic envelope that was hand painted with her name and the college she would be attending, and a personalized note on the back from the family who gave the gift. It can hold pens, notepads, etc and is very cute. They have several sizes from around $12 to $40 and all the items to put in it, and they gift wrap for free.
Good luck,
C.
I give the Dr. Suess book Oh The Places You'll Go to all the graduating students I know.
My favorite for girls is the Alpha Omega charm from James Avery. I usually write a note about how graduation is the end of one part of life and the beginning of the next stage. Also the book Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. The Charm will be something to remember you by and the book will help get a good start on being financially secure.
When I graduated from high school 21 years ago, I remember receiving many money gifts. With getting ready to go off to college, these gifts were nice as there were a ton of things to purchase for my dorm room. Monogrammed towels would also be nice as she probably doesn't have any of her own yet to carry to the bathroom at her dorm or apartment.
I love to give graduates a gift certificate to The Container Store, if there is one in their area. Whether they are going to college, moving into their own place or even staying at home for a while they can find fun and unique things there to help make the transition. Some people don't like giving gift cards though!
A great gift is Dr. Susess's Oh The Places You Will Go.
You could also maybe start her a nice charm bracelet with an "08" charm on it. I'm deeply in love with James Avery charms. It would be something she could add to, or you could send her, at various points in her life.
scrapbooking supplies so she can save her memories before she forgets who is in all the snap shots. Creative Memories is the best & guaranteed to protect your photos, but of course is also costly
hi H.! when i graduated, the one thing that i remember getting (and still have) the most was a gumball machine - plastic with a lever that dispensed the gumballs. it had been painted on the top and around the base with the name and mascot of the college i was going to attend and the gumballs were school colors. i thought it was super original and really thoughtful. that could be translated to anything... corkboard, whiteboard, scrapbook (empty for stuff from her college days), or probably lots of other things that crafty people can come up with! or you could do something like a keychain or other item from her new school's bookstore, a really nice pen (i got a cross pen and it made me feel like an adult :), or something from james avery (i'm a BIG fan too! and it's small and would be cheap to send.).
H.,

A charm bracelet. Maybe one or two charms; one with her birthstone and the other a graduation cap.
Great ideas so far!! I have another... I make one-of-a-kind gemstone jewelry. It makes a great gift for several reasons. All gemstones have healing properties to them, so when worn or carried they emanate a certain energy. I attach a card to all the jewelry I make that describes the stones that I used and their healing properties. It's a very thoughtful gift and there won't be another one like it! Here's my website: www.selfsymmetry.com You get 20% off if you enter "MAMASOURCE" for the source code when you're checking out. Thanks, and good luck!
If she is going away to college check the area she will be in and buy her gift cards in small increments to as many of the different places as you can. It's a pain to carry around gift cards all the time and not know the exact balances, buying in increments of 5 or 7 usually buys a meal and then the card can be discarded.
I have an awesome idea! I know I know, I would be selling you something, but I promise it will be worth your time. You can design her a key tag or a wrist hugger with a special message in it. You can have it shipped directly to her, just let her know to be anticipating a package. I sell Steel My Heart and you can personalize things that are VERY heartfelt and special. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this company and the products! Check out http://J..yoursmh.com I am happy to help you with any questions! If you are interested, contact me and we will create something great! I look forward to doing business with you!
Hi H. - PlushCreations has a unique line of expertly handcrafted (locally) travel accessories. The jewelry bags are a big favorite and can be paired with a matching lingerie bag. Although it's my own line and business, I do hear the comment over and over that my products make a great gift, especially for someone who has 'everything'. Adding a monogram makes it even more personal. The selection is varied so if your special friend has a favorite color or certain style, we either have something in the line that's perfect or we can find the fabric to make it. (time allowing) Please visit us at www.plushcreations.com. I'm in Colleyville so if you are close and want to save on shipping, let me know and we'll try to arrange to have the order picked up. (This applies to anyone in the immediate area). Good luck with this! D.
The word workmanship in the greek is POEMA. You are God's POEMA so I pray that you unleash that poetic inspiration...pen and paper...can be so transcendent and personal.

They both have some very nice Grad gifts and it is def' something they can keep forever. I like to use these sites for Weddings, anniversaries and new baby gifts too. I have been very happy w/everything I have ordered from both of these sites. Also if you have a Passbook there are coupons in there for both stores.
Have you visited a Creative Memories Consultant site lately? We have great graduation gifts! My favorite is the Everyday Display Board. It is a framed magnetic board with a ribbon across for hanging items. It comes with magentes and clothes pins and a knob for hanging. You can find it under the Home Decor tab of the product section. It's $49.00 and can be shipped directly to your friends and loved ones. If you aready have a consultant, check with her, if not, I'd love to help. (see member perks)
Hi H., I make custom, personalized wood frames and have actually done 3 in the past week for graduation gifts. If you'd like to see them send me an email to ____@____.com with the subject "Graduation Frames" and I can email you sample pictures. They are a cool gift idea because I can personalize with message or graduates name and school colors, etc....Hope that helps! J. :)
In the past, I have given a cooler w/ ziplock bags and tupperware to the boys and a nice James Avery necklace or earrings to the girls. Now I make a Fleece Tied Blanket with a solid color on 1 side and either their school color on the other side or something they really like (example: Footballs and matching solid color). Then I have it monagramed with their name. The boys and girls love it. They go in the washer and dryer. They can be left out in the dorm/apartment or in the car. You have some great ideas and I hope that you find the right gift for your special graduate.
Is she going away from home for college? If so, a "going out on your own" care package is a great idea. You can spend as much or as little as you'd like, and personalize it for what she likes. I helped my best friend put one together for her little sister when she graduated, and it was great fun for us, as well! For example, you could start with a laundry bag or basket (perhaps monogrammed), put in a cute pillow, some of those fun colorful dishes they have over at target, maybe some towels or bedding, consumable stuff like dish and clothes detergent or toiletries, desk accessories, book marks, cute school supplies, a photo album or scrapbook with pictures of her family...the list is endless. Obviously you won't give her everything, but just some cute useful stuff to get her started on her own!
