I live in North Austin by IKEA. I am willing to drive as far South as the Arboretum and can go to Georgetown. Does anyone know of a GOOD stylist that isn't expensive?
What I am looking for is a hairdresser that can give a mama a haircut that can dress up or down nicely and isn't difficult to deal with. And a hair dresser that is relaxed enough to be social with me while cutting my hair and not their coworkers? Having hair cuts by a person that is not talking to you is weird. I also like highlights now and then.

Let me introduce myself. My name is M. Hayman and I am a hairstylist. I worked 21 yrs. in Ohio. We moved to Round Rock two yrs. ago and I started back to work at a salon last month. The salon is at JCPenney's across the parking lot from IKEA. It is a clean and bright salon. I am a real down to earth person that just wants to help my client's life to be easier by making them feel better about themselves. And, I do not have any trouble talking and cutting at the same time :) However, I won't talk your ear off either. That is the oppisite problem. So, now it is to the $$$$ part. My haircut at Penney's is $26.00. If you choose to have it cut and styled it is $35.00. I will LISTEN to what YOU want and would love to help you. I live right off 1431 myself. Yes! I just recently found out about this salon and I love it!Great stylists there who don't charge too much! I went to Kathy epperson--awesome! The salon is Simply Irresistible 1705 N mays , round rock 78664 ###-###-####. They are just a few blocks off of I-35 and Hwy 79.
I go to Envy salon in downtown Round Rock. Rose has been doing my hair for almost 4 years and she does a great job! Not sure of the prices though, sorry.

I live in Leander and go to Toni & Guy at Lakeline Mall. I love them. I get my hair colored by Levi & cut by Claduia. I would suggest any hair dresser there and I've only been to Claudia once (just moved here in April from OK) but my husbands coworker goes there as well, and I love her bob, and from what I've seen when I have been they all do a good job.
If you want something super cheap, they are building a Great Clips in Leander as well by the new Lowe's off of 183 & Crystal Falls Parkway. My mother-in-law is moving down here from Oklahoma to manage this new branch. It should be done by Oct.
I get waxed at Salon 505 but I don't want to pay $200 to get my colored then add on a hair cut/tip...etc.
I went to City Search on the web and they have a list of salons w/feedback from clients so you'll know if where you choose is worth your drive.

My hairstylist is in the Courtyard Salons off I-35 in Hester's Crossing in Round Rock. All the stylists there have private rooms, so it's just you and the stylist. I've followed her from another salon where she didn't have a private room, and yes, she still gave me and my hair her undivided attention.
