Hi. We have lived here for almost 2 years but I still haven't found a good bakery. Where we lived before there was a local, family owned bakery. They made the best doughnuts and cakes and other baked goods that I have ever had! Does anyone know of someplace similar down here? I live in the Alpharetta/John's Creek.

What can I do next?

It's a drive but WELL worth it! La Madelaine has several locations and create wonderful french pastries, as well as lunch/dinner/catering menu.

The locations I am aware of are near Perimeter Mall and the mall in Gwinnett... (hmm there's a pattern there! LOL...)

Caraolyn, The only one we've found is a bit of a drive. It's called Alpine Bakery. Their address is 295 Rucker Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30004. I once made the mistake of going on a Monday (they're closed). They have terrific pies and everything else looked good too.

Also, although they are not family owned bakeries, I have found that the Harry's Market located on Upper Humbree in Alpharetta has a very good bakery for bread and pie and so does the Fresh Market located on Peachtree Industrial which might be pretty close to where you live. Hope this helps, S.

Have you tried Rhodes Bakery? There are several locations but I'm not sure exactly where they are but I know there is one fairly close to your area! Google it!

I don't know a good place for donuts but Alpine bakery in Roswell, close to the Alpharetta line, has great pastries and cakes. They also do pizza that's supposed to be very good. I haven't tried their pizza yet. It's on the corner of Rucker Road and Houze. In Johns Creek (I believe) on 141, there's a great bread place called Great Harvest Bread Co. They do very tasty breads and sandwiches. Good luck finding something similar to what you're used to.
