Hi! My 7 yr. old son has really really rough and bumpy skin. It started on the outer upper arms and has progressed to his entire upper arms and along the shoulders on his back. His thisghs has some as well. You cannot see the bumps, but they are crazy bad to the touch and the skin is dry too.

We just bought some Gold Bond Ultimate Rough and Bumpy Skin Daily Therapy Cream. I just applied his first application. Have any of you used this? Has it worked? If so, how well? If you haven't used it but have tried other remedies, what did you try and to what success?.

TIA,
L.

we used cetaphil, and when necessary a prescription-strength lotion that we got from his pediatrician.
gold bond is pretty good for your average bouts of dry skin. if your son has an issue where it's 'crazy bad' and spreading, you need to take him to the doctor.

I've had really great luck with gold bond products. My current fav is the ultimate foot cream which I use on my hands. I'm a knitter and the fiber really dries out my fingers to the point of cracking. If the stuff you are using doesn't work I'd probably take him to the doctors office. They have rx stuff that usually works better than the otc.

My son has the same condition and as long as he uses lotion or cream every day it goes away. It really hasn't mattered what kind he uses, as long as he uses it. When he doesn't use anything it comes right back.

We use Gold Bond lotions in the winter. The soap they kids use at school really does a number on their hands. It works well for us.

Without seeing it, I'm going to guess keratosis pilaris. Very common in kids, non-harmful unless he scratches and gets a secondary infatcion, but can last for years.

The Gold Bond lotion you mention has ingredients that can help clear it up faster, so you've instinctively chosen well. :-)

Sounds like your son has KP (keratosis Pilaris).
I bought it, but my 12 year old will not consistently use it so I can't give you a review! Haha

I have keratosis pilaris, or should say that I used to have it. I cured it this year by using Arbonne lotion (I'm not an Arbonne sales person, but like to pass along what has worked for me). It's called Arbonne SeaSource Detox Spa Re-Mineralizing Body Lotion. I found out about it at a Gluten Free event as I was chatting with a gal about how I was trying to improve my KP by trying a Gluten Free diet. She told me about the Arbonne lotion that had worked for her and her daughter. I have also used it on my daughter and it smoothed out her bumps too. I have trouble keeping up with her daily dose, but with consistency it really works.

I haven't tried Gold Bond, but I might, since it looks like that is working for people too. Maybe it's less expensive. I love the feel and smell of the Arbonne though.
