Hi Ladies
I am looking into a business that would be a service for mom's. I am wanting feedback from all the mom's. If you would use a service or not and what you think of it.
As mom's we all get stressed out and overwhelmed. Kids, School, meals, housework, sports, and other child related things, like the L word (laundry) Ugh!!! Sometimes we just need time for US and then just time for the kids. A lot of mommys feel they are just over taxed in the domestic area. This "business" would be called "Moms best friend" Once a week for 4 hours a super-step-mom comes in and lends a hand. Then (you) mom does what she wants, sleep a bit, go out for a bit, help the helper get stuff done for a extra good cleaning, go to lunch with another mom while the L word (laundry Ugh!)or dishes or dinner get done. just a break without the stress of not getting things done. Once a week for 4 to 6 hours. The cost....approx $45 for 4 hrs and $65 for 6 hrs with a month contract. *of course removing gum from childs hair with peanut butter would be extra :o) j/k
So, ok here is a day with a helper (just an idea)...dad at work, home at 6. Kids at school, home at 3. there is dirty dishes, laundry, and dinner needs prep. Helper comes at 2:30 for a 4 hour "helping"...mom goes to lunch with a friend and gets nails done... 2 and a half hours later...the kids are done with homework 2 loads of laundry are done and put away, dinner is in the oven, everything has been picked up and swept. Mom then takes an hour or so with kids and continues the final dinner prep and helper is done. Mom has had a wonderful break and yet she can relax because everything is still ok.
I have 6/7 children and I have always worked but I know the stress of going to lunch ect. or sneeking in a nap because there are things that needed doing and then doing them instead of spending that time with the kids makes a little more stress and just leaves us so deflated. I know if I could just have 4 to 6 hours a week that is not 100 to 200 dollars to get ( wow I have called the marry maids ) this is more like a friend taking over just so you can get some things done and some "me" time once a week. Also those days when we have reached a limit and we are just a crying mess...oh yes great time to call "moms best friend emergency" The helper comes for a couple hours and takes baby in the living room for some play time ect. mommy takes a bubble bath with a small glass of wine and helper takes everything else for just a couple hours so mommy can get her focus back. Because I have soooo been there, and its just not a time you want to call your girlfriends and say "I know your at work or at home dealing with your kids etc. but I need help because I have too much on my plate.
so, ok, what do you all think? Would you use this kind of service? Would those prices be reasonable and affordable? please give me some feedback.
Thanks so much and blessing to all of you
C.
Hi Ladies,
Well I know I didnt get much response, however, I think I am going to give this a shot. This is something I really want to do and I know there are some challenges to come, yet I think it will be worth it. Thank you all who gave me feedback. I will be starting right away (no contracts at this time) and getting some license backing in the meantime. I have had CPR, I am bonded, fingerprinted. I will be working on a childcare license and business license and possibly hiring some help. For those who wanted to try this out, call me on my work phone @ ###-###-####. I will cover all Sacramento and surrounding areas. If you don't care to try this now, do take the number, and keep it for a "mommy emergency" 2 hours of fast help when it just "happens"
Thanks everyone!

C.,
This sounds like a fantastic idea!
Hi,
I think you have a great idea. I would love to use this service every once in a while, I am just not sure about the 1 month commitment. Especially in the beginning, when first trying out the service. The rates do seem reasonable, a little over $10 per hour. Let us know once you get this going!
Sounds great to me and the price is very reasonable too. I would want the opportunity to meet the person coming into my home first as I would any other care provider.
Hi C., Sounds like a great way to give a mom a break.
My concern would be how the helper could take care of the domestic stuff within a set period of time and watch the children, too. I think that you might want to focus the idea on one or the other....like, come do chores or take the kids to a movie/park, etc so that the mom can get stuff done. I don't think I could trust someone enough to be spending time with my kids while they are cleaning the house. and at that price, it is a bit more than we currently pay for a babysitter. Good luck to you ~ it'll come together if its meant to be.
Hello,
this is a great idea. i only have ONE child and I would use your service! I think it could help marriages and relationships for the better, too! What area are you looking to service? Elk Grove by any chance? Good luck and let me know if you start it!

I love it and please tell me when we can sign up.
WOW, Super IDEA!!! I don't even work right now and I am overwhelmed by this HORRIBLY messy house. I am trying to CLEAN out one room at a time, and get so off track or overwhelmned at times that I cannot even finish that. If I had moms helper here just to help keep me on track and say "hey you really can throw that away now". I might have a cleaner house and my husband and kids might have a more relaxed mom! I COULD use her now! Just got home from store, trying to put things away, irritated, then the kitchen sink breaks and makes a HUGE mess, now too overwhelmed to get back to what I was doing before I left!!! What was the number for the emergency helper...LOL!!! GREAT IDEA! GOOD LUCK WITH IT!!!
Just a bug in your ear......another great service for working parents would be a service to drop off and pick up children from school. I have my 12 year old in before and after school care this year but when she turns 13 she will no longer be eligible. She will be going to junior high next year. I am stressing out big time knowing that she will have to be walking to and from school. In this day and age that is not what we want our kids doing. I have talked to a couple of other concerned parents about this and we agreed it would be a great service!!!
