HI My only suggestion is Old Navy 6 slim, in the slim fit style. They are the slimest jeans I have found:) Good luck! My daughter has a similar problem.
I cannot find any jeans to fit my 6 year old daughter. She is 47 inches tall (21.25" inseam) with long legs, which would be a size 6x. However, her waist is only 20 inches, which according to size charts is a size 3. I have tried Slim pants with adjustable waist, and with both sides adjusted to the smallest waist size possible, it is still a little big in the waist as well as the rest of the pants ballooning out from being cinched in so much. Is there a pair that might work for her or do I need to get some altered at a tailors shop?

Old Navy online has really good sales-they have the waist that you can tighten. My son is the same way! Kohls MAY have some also. I think I`ve found some at Walmart too...Just look for the waist you can tighten.
I don't know if they make them but if you look for "skinny" jeans that would help, I have to do that for my teen. I just don't know if they are available in 6x andif you find them in adjustable waist, you can alter the number of holes.or at most have the waist altered professionally. But once I discovered skinny jeans for mine, I didn't have problems with the waist anymore. Good luck.
hello C.
what i did with my oldest daughter becuse there was no adjustable waiste was to buy levie for boy they were just plain jean then we added patches to them to make them look cute boys levie are just cut smaller good luck
C.,
Thanks for asking this question, I have the same problem with my 7 year old, she's tall and skinny. Leggings are a life saver, but after all the advice you got I'm going to try Old Navy.

What about Limited Too? Also Children's Place? Just a couple ideas i thought would share.
When my 40-something daughter was a kid, I had to buy her boys' slim jeans since there were none for girls. Now she's in Weight Watchers! Go figure!
I'm sure you have tried this-the boys slim size-usually found at J C Penney's

I have the same problem! My 5 year old fits a 2/3 waist! She hates the adjustable waist jeans because the buttons inside dig into her waist and they are all bunched up. We recently found old navy slim skinny cut online, fit her well. Also, SOME childrens place slims fit her. JC Penny's also has their brand in slim's and seem to work well. I agree with others, leggings are much easier and she LIVED in skirts and tights last winter too! I'm tall and slender too and I have the same problems finding jeans for myself! I HATE having to spend $60 on Gap long and lean tall jeans!!
My daughter is 3 1/2 and weighs 27 pounds.. so I know about fitting pants on skinny girls.
I have had the best luck with target cherokee and circo jeans and childrens place jeans.
Last winter she mostly wore leggings with fit her skinny body and look nice.
You might want to look for leggings...
Your daughter sounds like me growing up. I always had high water pants due to long legs (which I still have). I was so thrilled to find that men's jeans came with different leg lengths and wore them for most of high school and college. Around that time I started noticing some stores carried longs.
Once she's an adult she shouldn't have too much trouble finding long pants, though they can be more expensive as only certain companies make them. But in children and Junior sizes you probably will have to get them made or altered. When I was a kid my mom made nearly all of our clothing, so that's probably why I didn't notice the issue until high school, and only because the tight rolled jeans were finally going out of style. ;)
If you can find a good pattern for pants the tailor could just add some inches to the bottom, it would probably be easier to make them from scratch then to alter larger ones. I've altered lots of my own pants and unless they have large cuffs on the bottom, the hems usually don't have enough material to make lengthening them enough possible. Plus the way that they are cut to fit a larger body doesn't always work out to slimming them. But yes, bottom line you'll need to find a good tailor to either make or alter some pants as this will be an issue for a while unless she starts to fill out.
Best wishes!
With my daughter, we pretty much stuck with leggins for the longest time, and I had two pairs of jeans made to fit her by a tailor. They were somewhat reasonably priced- I think I paid $20 each pair- and he had enough hem in them I got a full year and a half out of them. I even took a photo of some fancy stitching and he put it on a pocket so she felt like she was wearing the designer stuff.
Now she's 11 and we're starting to buy a junior's size 0 because the girls slim size 12 or 14 are still a bit too baggy. I know that won't help your 7 yr old yet but remember to try juniors slims once she's too big for a girl's 12.
My daughter is in the same boat. She's a 7 tall, but a 4 a round, and just turned 6. I have found that Old Navy makes a 'skinny cut' with an adjustable waist. So, even if I can't make it small enough around, they at least stay up!
Good Luck!
Have you tried Gap kids. I know it sounds expensive, but they usually have sales on their jeans, especially this time of year (back to school). My kids are the same way and the Gap jeans seemed to fit the best. Good luck!
Hi C.,
You are not alone. I don't know my daughters exact measurements. But she grew out of her 6's last year for the length.. most too short... now this year, the 7's are all too BAGGY and HUGE... SO, I actually started trying on 6's again.. She does fit in the children's place 6's good, for lenght.. HAS to have the adjustable tags or else forget it. she could also easily fit in a 3 shorts or skirt, but all would be TOO SHORT.
I tell ya it isn't easy.. GOOD LUCK!
Try children's place jeans..
I know someone else mentioned this. But we have the same problem with two of my three. Old Navy sells a pant. I think it may be the darling style. Straight legged, stretchy material, with waist adjusters. but its the first pair of pants that has ever fit right. Really go try them.
Maybe for the time being, stick more with leggings than traditional pants--that's what I had to do with my daughter for a while. Also, I don't know how many adjustable-waist brands you've tried, but some are slimmer-fitting than others. Good luck!
