My dd wears a 16 or 14, sometimes plus. They are supposed to touch her knee. Can you give me an online link other than Land's End which I read terrible reviews about.

What can I do next?

My daughter ( in cheer) always wears Soffe's from Academy.

One thing ALL the cheerleaders do is wear spandex ( academy) under everything they wear, cheer or not. The spandex is like a boy short that fits tightly and no show of undies, etc

Try Champion basketball shorts.

Here's one that touches the knee: http://www.championusa.com/workout-clothes/women/shorts--...

I know $30 can seem pricey for gym shorts, but I am 30 and all of my Champion shorts are still in great condition, and I bought them in high school. The mesh basketball ones are the best!

Depending upon how tall she is: http://www.championusa.com/workout-clothes/women/shorts--...

I buy our shorts at the store I work in but I know Hibbets has a long black mesh style short that is good for soccer. It might be long enough to do the job for you.

We carry Soffe shorts. The men's are long enough to go to the knee. The boys is almost to the knee too.

Here is a link to the Juniors Soffe shorts. They only have a couple of them that go to the knee. Most of the time shorts for females are, at the longest, to the mid thigh.

As for mens, they like them to go all the way down to the knee. Almost every pair is to the knee or just above.

Lots of my friends were their shorts longer and do buy them in the boys or men's section at Walmart. Soffe is a good brand and they are as affordable as Hibbits or Academy.

I hope you can find some that are comfortable and soft. All these are double layered that I have bought in the store, the long black mesh ones. I love Soffe products and use them all the time.

Go into any boys department and they will have what you need.

I agree with the boys dept. I'm only a size 5-6 womens so the teen boys sections is great for long shorts. I prefer them long for working out etc.

I've found a couple of pair that I wear all the time in the boys sections (black and grey which would be fine for a girl.

Hmmm... I surprised you read bad reviews about Land's End. In general they are very high quality. Maybe just that particular style of short people didn't like. Is there another LE style you could try?

Any "basketball" short should be fine. They are cut long and roomy and made for moving. You should be able to pick up a pair at Target or ANYWHERE really.

I agree with checking out the boy's department. Their shorts tend to run longer and have an elastic waist, etc.

Most of the young girls I know find it very cool to wear boy's things for gym.

We have local stores that carry gym clothing, including sweats, with the school logos and emblems on them. Check locally.

Best wishes.

I guess this would be a benefit of having to buy the official school PE uniform. For both Jr. High and High school the shorts are knee length (or longer in my sons case).

Can they be longer than her knee? Sometimes you can find capri length work out "pants" otherwise I would maybe look into getting some yoga pants at probably old navy or walmart and trim and hem to the right length.

The only shorts that touch the knee that I'm aware of are basketball shorts, and maybe some brands of soccer shorts.
I would try Big 5, or Sports Authority, whatever you have near you.
You'll probably need to look in the boy's section.
But don't they have PE uniforms if they're requiring them to dress for PE?

we always had good luck finding LONG girls shorts at dick's sporting goods or sports authority. We did find a pair of acceptable shorts for my daughter for this year at wal-mart.

Check out goodwill or other thrift shops. You could also look for crop pants or gaucho pants for girls and cut them off to the right length and hem.

I don't know about online (I don't shop online) but I'm about the same size and I just bought shorts at Scheel's. I got them in the mens section and they are long.

my 11 year old who wears a 14/16 or a womens 0/2 wears those in size small and they hit right at her knee...they are tight enough you could go to a medium for more room and they have a working drawstring.
