Just a thought, but in addition to writing her a personal note, why not write one to her supervisor letting them know how wonderful and perfessional she is. A note in the newspaper might be kind of nice too.
I hope you ladies can help. I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a gift for our waitress. Our family goes out to dinner every week and we always have the same waitress. She is VERY good to our family and even buys my girls birthday and Christmas gifts. What could I possibly buy for her to show how much we appreciate her? I can't say I know a lot about her personal life but I wanted something a little more personal than a gift card.
Thanks so much and happy holidays!

Why not a framed picture of the girls, have each of them sign on the frame with a permanent marker, and then cash? I know what you mean about personal -- so when I want to give a gift card or $, I add something small but meaningful as well. Frames are very inexpensive. This way, the girls are involved in seeing you give a present to another person.
Why not let your daughters give her a gift each? Let them make baskets with items from the dollar store and you include a Gift Card. I think she would appreciate that more than just a Gift Card from your family.

I'm sure she could use extra money, but it's not very personal. Maybe accompanied by artwork from your kids? waitresses spend a lot of time on their feet, what about a shoestore giftcard so she can buy comfy shoes?
Please listen to the people that mentioned cash. I think that that would be the best gift. Give her a great big tip and a note of how you guys feel about her and her service. I LOVE the idea a the note of thanks and there is nothing wrong with homemade cookies or chocolate or even a nice glove and scarf set.
As a former waitress, I can say NOTHING would be better than a mani/pedi or massage. Since the economy is so bad and people are not using these services as much, you can find great dealsd right now. If this is still out of the budget, a package of spa type goodies would be nice.
Definitely cash or a gift card and maybe include some lottery tickets!
I haven't read the other posts, so this may have been mentioned already, but what about a gift card to a local spa or salon? Enough for a manicure or pedicure would be a wonderful treat!
My sister is a waitress and the best gift for her from a regular would be extra tip. Remember there are gifts she needs to buy too so right now, money is the best gift!

I have to tell you that I am also in the service business. I have a very close relationship with some of my customers as well. Sometimes you just can't help it,you may actually see some of them more then your aunts and uncles. I always appreciate anything they give me, they certainly don't have to give me anything, the continued business is more then enough. BUT, I always say that if they would like to give something, I wish it was cash. That is really helpful, especially around this time of year. I always do put a little aside for myself, like they say to. I know you said you wanted something more personal then cash or a gift card, but you can make it personal by putting it in a really nice card and including a personal note telling her how much you really appreciate her and her service. Honestly, cash is the most appreciated.
Merry Christmas!
Any one who is on their feet all day would appreciate a massage or a mini spa visit. There are a couple of very affordable day spas in the State College area that would not break your budget. Many massage therapists also offer introductory gift certificates during the holidays.
Write her a note that tells her how much you appreciate her kindness throughout the year and give her an extra big tip in the card. She will appreciate this more than any other gift you could give her.
Merry Christmas!
