Ghostbusters Party Games

My son is turning five in November and he wants his party to have a Ghostbusters theme. Nothing challenging there right? It's only a theme that is 25 years old, lol. I have figured out decorations I can put together. And I have thought of a few games...building a marshmallow man with toothpicks, food markers and marshmallows and some sort of "ghost hunt" with silly string. I saw an idea of hiding trinkets in green jello or "slime", which as cute as it sounds, will be way too messy. We did a pinnate and pin the tale game last year, so I am avoiding those unless I get desperate. I spent hours on the web yesterday and came up with very little...any of you creative mamas have any great ideas?

What can I do next?

What if you had the kiddos make slime (aka Oobleck)? Oobleck is both a solid and a liquid. You could have small containers for them each to take their slime home with them as a goodie. All you need is corn starch, water, food coloring, and the container/baggie. Here's a link to a recipe I found online: http://www.kinderteacher.com/oobleck.htm . This sounds like a fun party!!! :)

How about silly putty......the kind where you can copy onto it......and what about those wall things you can throw against a wall and they stick.....never mind, 5 year old aim might not be good........!

For a side dish, make vanilla pudding and put in green food coloring!

How about a dress up game.....put clothes out for them to dress up in.....fake mustaches, etc.....maybe even something like the costumes they wore.....or put little things on it.....

Maybe some marshmallow guns.......

How about pin the whatever on the ghost? You know with it being around Halloween, get some sort of poster or something and pin something on the ghost......

You could also include a showing of the movie and maybe play the music during the party.......

I hope this helps.....great choice in a movie, even if a little old!! Take care and good luck.

Maybe a Ghostly treasure hunt.
Make a map (from scenes in the movie) and hide ghost treasures around the yard.

Have enough at each location that each child gets one.. It would be fun if it was dark outside and you could give them each a flashlight to search for the treasure.. The treasure could be glow in the dark stickers at each location. Or if you have a large space indoors to turn off the lights just for the hunt.

At our school carnival one of the most popular activities is a "Hazy Maze".
We gather a ton of appliance boxes and push them together, tape them all together, then cut through the sides of them so the kids have to crawl through the maze.. We make some "window" openings, so they can wiggle their little fingers or look out.. We have black lights in the room and they have flashlights to crawl through the maze!
We only let 3 in at a time, so they do not all get stuck in there..
