See if the Chicago area has a CYT organizaton. Christian Youth Theater. THey are phenomenal. THey give acting, dance, voice, stage lessons.
Here our CYT just did Oliver. THey do about 4 to 6 plays, full blown professional plays, a year.
Our 7 yr old has "the bug". She's done several children's theatre productions locally as well as the fun little summer camp theatre.
She KILLED IT last night in Beauty and the Beast. She had a small part, but she really did get the audience into it - audible laughing at her.
I'd love to get her some parts in REAL theatre productions - maybe starting at the highschools, local theatres, etc. Where do you suggest we get started?

Join a local community children's Theater group.
This group comes to my area and they are wonderful. If the kids get in the cast they learn so many things that help them to learn how to do stuff the right way, a lot of the kids get selected for every production they audition for because they have learned the right way to audition, they know how to stand, to follow instructions, etc....
One other thing that you can do is put her in ballet or some sort of dance where strengthening her core muscles is important. These muscles influence how she stands, how she walks, how she projects her voice, just about everything comes from the core muscles.
Also performing on stage for recitals or other performances doing different things will give her more stage experience. This is all going to be good for her in learning to feel very comfortable.
Do you want her to get into commericials? Chicago area does most of the print advertising in our country (80%). Check out some agencies that handle children.
