Getting Rid of the Belly Pooch?

Hi Moms - I'm sure this has been asked before, but is it possible, and how do you get rid of the belly pooch? I had a bit of one before pregnancy, and of course, after pregnancy it's bigger. Not a big fan of exercise, but if there are exercises that work, I'd love to hear about them. I know there are gadgets out there that supposedly help, but are they just gimicks, or is there one that actually DOES target this area? Or would I be stuck with liposuction or something if it continues to be gross as I age (LOL)?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

They're gimmicks. Save your money. unfortunately the only thing that literally works is exercise. I HATED exercising before my first daughter was born. I never did it. But when I couldn't lose that weight...especially the pooch...I resorted to trying. I forced myself to go to the gym and take classes. It was hell and hard at first...but I forced myself to go. After about, oh a month or so, the agony turned into feeling better and having more energy. Then I started to actually enjoy exercising. Trust me...this is possible. I was 28 when I had my daughter and never exercised and HATED to sweat as well. Now I love to exercise. Well, maybe not love, but I enjoy it to an extent.

I also had gone to a plastic surgeon who suggested I try to exercise and lose it before resorting to drastic measures like surgery.

So basically cardio and crunches and the pooch will go away. Good luck.

I've started the p90x exercise program and it's working. I've also lost 6 lbs in the last 3 weeks just by changing the way I eat. Healthy smaller portions and eat more frequently. No more soda. I jst drink water alllll day long. If u go to beachbody.com, you will see many exercise DVDs and u can choose one that suits you.

I have always had a decent stomach, even after the birth of my daughter. Then, my son came along and he sat low, just like those wives tales and of course he stretched out my tummy. I continued to have the "pooch" for a year plus after he was born. I would get so frustrated because it would hang out over the waist of my pants. Anyway, since we have started eating really fresh and healthy and cutting out processed foods (for the most part) I have noticed that the "pooch" has disappeared. Yay! I think when I add more exercise this summer the maybe I can get it toned as well.

Not sure what you eat now, but when I say we have started eating better we are not perfect. I do white rice instead of brown. If there is nothing else to eat we have grilled cheese sandwiches. It's a start at least.

Good luck. That "pooch" that wasn't invited in the first place and now won't leave is very frustrating. I hope you can make it leave.

good diet, cardio is a must, i run, but there are other things, and reverse crunches that will flatten real quick.

Oh, yes, they are gimmicks. Just about everything on the market will help someone, but it won't do much for the masses.

Unfortunately, the best way to get rid of the pooch is to work really hard at it - something I've not completely done yet.

Everyone I know who does Weight Watchers has had great success. So, part of it is going to be incorporating better food choices/quantities into your plan. The other part is having to put the effort into it - any kind of exercise that's going to tone and strengthen your core abdominal muscles.

And, the worst part? It's going to take a long time. Most of us get frustrated before we see results.

The FDA issued warnings to companies last week who market fat dissolving products (for example: Lipodissolve) because they don't work to the extent they claim (if at all).

If you can afford it, get a good trainer, get your head in the right place, and start working hard.

I do Tae Bo & absolutely love it. Besides it helped my stomach tremendously, my husband loves the way my butt looks & how limber I am, lol. I also feel more comfortable when I am alone w/o my husband cuz it taught me 2 defend myself w/the kicks & punches. FYI-I always have had a pooch since my 11 yr old was born & finally wore a bikini last summer after I had done tae bo for a few months. I also delivered my 3 yr old by c-section & then a few months later had my gall bladder out & it still gave me a flat stomach. Good Luck!
