My hubby got a vasectomy soon after our last son was born. Since I've stopped breastfeeding, my periods have come back and now I'm concerned about getting pregnant despite the vasectomy. My period was a couple of days late last month, but now it's been 6 weeks since my last one. It's hard to justify buying a pregnancy test when I technically can't be pregnant. My question is... how common is it to get pregnant after a vasectomy? Should this be something that I should be concerned about? I don't want to be paranoid, but I hear stories about vasectomies failing. Have any of your moms experienced this?
I should add.. My husband took in one sample after the procedure and it was "clear" of swimmers. However, he never took in the second sample.

I'm sure anything is possible. I think the Dollar Store sells tests. Also, a test at Walgreens is like $9--I would do it for peace of mind!
I would not worry about it at this point. You just stopped breastfeeding so your periods will probably be a little messed up for a while.
But yes, it is possible to get pregnant even after a vasectomy. It is not 100%.
I am here to say that it is possible. My dad had a vesectomy but here I am typing this post. Go to the dollar store and by and pregnancy test so that you can relax. My cycle took almost 6 months to be normal again after BF my son.
It's possible, but not probable. If he was checked, then chances are the vasectomy did NOT fail. Even though your periods have returned, it sounds like that they're not completely back to normal. I wouldn't be concerned. However, if you wait another 2 weeks and haven't started your period, I would make that small investment in the home pregnancy test just to be sure.... miracles do happen.
