658 sounds like a vacation for me.. I have that many several times a year! lol
Ok. Let me preface by saying that I am HORRIBLE about getting pictures developed. I have a digital camera and they stay there. I have decided to get them all printed as I have 658! Where do you guys find your best deals on photo development? Snapfish, Walgreens, Walmart? I do have a bunch so any help is appreciated
Thanks!

Clarkcolor.com -- regular price is $0.09 a print and they often have sales and promotions. Much cheaper than anywhere else I've seen and very good quality. I've used them for about 10 years -- prints, books, and Christmas cards. I've never been disappointed.
Right now they have free shipping on 300 or more prints (no limit).
Yeah I have about 5 years worth too. I have decided that when I get free time (ha!) I am going to make a photo book for each year of photos. I have done them from Shutterfly and they are really nice. This way I will not have a bunch of photos to organize once they get here. I will just pick the best from the year and put them in the book.
Walgreens is terrible, I wont make that mistake again... ive finally realized we never look at our pics on the computer, so I'm beginning the process of printing EVERYTHING from the 12 years we've been married... over 15000 photos, ive purchased 2 cute cabinets to hold albums, and ive taken the 3500ish most recent pics that are still on memory cards to costco and been very pleased, ive also printed some that are stored online with snapfish and shutterfly and been pleased. My kids are LOVING having the physical albums to look through :)
I love Costco the best. Great prices and great quality.
You can upload all your pictures from home and then pick them up when they are done.
We take a ton more pictures so I just pick out the best ones and get those printed out every so often.
Snapfish. They are having a penny print sale...
Costco is really great!
First, toss them all on a disk. Then choose the ones you want to print.
Download 1/2 to snapfish and 1/2 to shutterfly. Each will give you your first 50 prints for free. Quality is excellent for both.
costco!

Shutterfly is a great site. You can order print plans that make it cheap. They also have photo books, etc.
Short answer... Wal-Mart!!
And if you think you're horrible then there's gotta be a new word for me!! I got way more than you that need developing! Ever since I was practically forced to switch to digital about five years ago, I haven't developed hardly any of them!! In fact my sister reminded me just the other day she's still waiting for birthday pictures from about two or three years ago. I'm ALWAYS taking pictures!! It was so much easier to just turn in a roll of film. Now I have to sit down and go thru the pictures and pick which ones I want to actually print!
Anyways, I've never used other services, but I like Wal-mart because they're cheap, do a good job and you can do it all on-line and then just have them mailed to you. If I were you, I would just do maybe 50 or 100 at a time then maybe you won't feel so overwhelmed.
Good luck!!!
I know that when you join sites like shutterfly you get a certain amount of free prints (You still have to pay for shipping). Maybe look into that?
Other than that I have just always printed mine at Walmart.
Love shutterfly, they have print plans and first so many are free if you are new.
Put them on add and then pick out which ones you want to print. Much easier that way. DVDs are a good way to save all photos. You can do it at Costco, Walgreens, really anyplace. DVDs do not cost more than $5.00. Costco is 2.98. And will hold all 658. CVS is expensive and will only let you put on like 50. So check before you do it.
What will you DO with so many photos? ;)
I had the same problem you did...and now, I download all my pics to Walgreens. I signed up for their emails, so I randomly get these great coupons for, say, 50% off books, etc.
I then sit for a few hours and design these fabulous books on their website...hardcover, and there are so many templates and layouts to choose from. If I have one really great photo I'll let that one have a whole page, if I have four pictures of the same thing at different angles I might put those on the same page, etc, you get the idea. You can add captions as well.
These books start at around 20 bucks, but with the coupon codes I have gotten about a 100 pictures in a hardcover book for around 10 dollars which is 10 cents a picture...what you'd pay to get them developed...but they are all beautifully printed in a hardcover book for me to cherish forever. I love this option.
I just want to tell you how pleased I've been with my photos and making them into real keepsakes with Walgreen's site. ;) I know there are probably a lot of sites that do similar things, so you could look around for deals...but I think the deals I get there are great.
We use Walgreens because you can do everything online.. Also, they often have good deals.. So far, we ve been quite pleased..
I usually do Shutterfly. If you have a lot of pictures, you can do a pre-pay plan and get the cost per print down to 9 cents. Shutterfly is currently having a free shipping promotion for orders over $25 but it ends May 2nd. Although I suspect if you can't be ready by that time, they will eventually have another discount promotion for shipping too.
Shutterfly also lets you print to a local store, but it may be pricier because you cannot use the pre-pay plan...you pay at the store. You can just get them faster that way.
Also, I agree with the suggestion to trim out the collection and only upload the ones that you really want to print.
Walgreen's picture quality is HORRIBLE so skip them. It has to do with their equipment. I have always been very happy between Sam's and Costco. (Nice vibrant colors.)
If you don't have a plan for the printed pictures you may be better off buying a storage unit (flash drive/DVD) and back up your pictures onto it and skip all of the printing.
we dont have a costco.
Walgreens is the cheapest with their almost monthly specials of 10 cent prints. I usually have great luck with their quality more so than walmart.
Snapfish had horrible quality and i didn't like them being mailed to me and possibly damaged in delivery. but they do often have deals so you would possibly get the 10 cent print like Walgreens.
Do you really have 600 that are all good ones, do you delete as you go? otherwise i would suggest uploading them at home and selecting the ones you actually want.
I think it makes a ton of sense to make yourself a PHOTO BOOK or several. I know trying to get 700 print in a reg album would be hard for me. just fyi I started back before digital to get 2 sets of prints and i have albums for my son and one for my dd and then i occasionaly get a 3rd copy for picts i like for me, with the intention of hanging them on the wall, which hasn't happend. Also wanted to pass on a tip a friend had of always developing film the week before her kids bdays so that it happened annually and that was how she kept it managable.
Great choices.
FYI...You can lose all of your images on CD. It doesn't happen often, but it can happen.
Also, I don't suggest you print them at home. It will cost you a lot of money in ink and paper. At the same time, the print shops will do a much better job then your home printer.
Avoid printing duplicates, so if a photo is the same pose, just a different angle, force yourself to pick one and only print the fav!
Do you have a printer that prints in color? Are you able to download your pictures to your pictures to your computer? If so, invest in some good quality photo paper (I use paper from Costco) and print them yourself.
This is what I do. I was able to get a good deal on a color printer, and this way I only print the pictures that I want and those that turned out well. It saves time since I don't have to remember to drop of or pick up the photos from the drug store, and I can print the pictures whenever I have the time.
Just a though.
I have not tried anywhere but Walmart, just because you can do it online and have it shipped to you, which everyone else probably can do too. I have had great quality from them and very quick turnaround.
I've used Walgreens, when they have 9 cent prints. I'm pretty picky about quality and have tried several others, so quality may vary by location for anyplace. I'd do a test set of 10 or so at a few places before getting that many printed. You don't mention if you're planning to print ALL you've taken or if you've edited down. It's definitely the advantage of digital that you can use software to sort and edit. I use iphoto which allow you to assign one to five stars, and I only print the five star photos. BUT, all that being said, even back when i had one child and I had time to organize my photos and get prints, I've never put even one in an album. You'll be completely overwhelmed by them, and if they are in a box like mine, what's the point. I agree the snapfish books are awesome (there are lots of companies that do them...i usually use snapfish when they have buy one get two free sales....I give one to each set of grandparents. But i think you could do three different ones.) You could do a book for each year and/or special vacation/event etc. THAT being said, I haven't had time to do this since my #2 was born. For me anyway, it takes quite a bit of time to get one year of (thousands of) pictures to fit in a book and layed out the way i like it.....but so worth it! My new plan (the easiest one) is to put the pictures on a card and pop it in a digital frame....no prints/albums to mess with and i can enjoy them every day. I'm sure I'll get around to this someday.....
Perhaps I'm too late and you've already ordered...but I too suggest having a plan with them before you print off 658 prints!! Yikes!
I use Snapfish and Shutterfly the most, mostly b/c they are reasonably priced, good products and they always have sales and deals and even Groupons.
I would start cutting out some time and loading your pictures onto one of the sites and making some photo books. It is time consuming but you can save your projects and come back to them at anytime and just keep adding pictures. It really won't take much more time than just printing them off and shoving them into photo books of your own, plus it will look nicer and you won't be left with a box full of prints that you never got around to organizing.
For books, I prefer Shutterfly b/c they have a storyboard feature. It rocks!! It makes it really easy to sort and place pictures, especially if you have a lot to work with at once. That being said, I make a lot of books on Snapfish too. I started there so it's sort of my comfort, but truly they are both good. I take TONS of pictures (probably too many) and I make a photo book for each calendar year. Plus, if we go on vacation sometimes I'll make a special vacation book or something I'll make a book around a holiday or make books for gifts or whatever. If I find a coupon or groupon I'll usually make one just for fun! I have a problem!!!! :)
Finally, if you really do want to go with just prints (as I said at least have a plan first!) I like that Snapfish and Shutterfly allow you to use their websites to order and then you can pick them up at Walgreens and Target, respectively.
Whatever you do, have fun!
