Hey mom's I need you all to get your creative juices flowing! My little Ava is turning one this month. We are having a "DIVA" party. Not pop star diva, just like high heels, pearls, prissy little girl diva. I need help on wording for the invitations. I searched the internet but haven't found anything cute. I am just going to make them or have them made and need some creative wording. It will be mostly adults and a few kids. Thanks for you help!

What can I do next?

S.,

When my daughter Savanah turned 2 I did a hot pink feathers and cowprint theme for her party. I found a story about a purple cow - but changed it to a pink cow and ran it through the cow print. Then I cut up small hot pink feather boas and sewed them on the top of the invitation. It really popped out when it was taken out of the envelope. Needless to say, it was a huge hit. I think it could be adjusted for a Diva Party. I don't have wording advice but the feathers could really dress up a simple invitation. I carried the feathers through the entire party theme by having some that people could wear and the cow print material different places. I found the material at Wal-mart and cut squares and then stuffed them in terra cotta pots. I put silverware and napkins in the pots. I also put the feathers around the bottom of the board the cake was on. Anyway, you get the picture. If you decide to do the invite - by the smallest feather boas you can find. I think I got mine at JoAnn's or Michaels. Then I made a big knot in my thread and just threaded it on the top of the invite. It takes a little bit of time but it is worth it.

There is a cake shop in Keller called Sweet Memories. (I think) right off 1709. I took my invitation to them and they did a custom cake for me. The cake was fabulous.

Let me know if you have any questions or need any help with the invitations. I am buried in work until next Tuesday but will have a little more time to brainstorm after that. I occasionally do birthday invites for my friends and neighbors. I am a freelance graphic designer and I work for myself from home. I don't advertise birthday invites as part of my graphic design business but I really enjoy doing them and it gives me a chance to use my creative juices in different ways. Annual reports and postcard campaigns get old after a while.

Feel free to email me if you find the wording but just need the type designed.

I had a terrible first few months after my DD was born so I didn't send out birth announcements. I sent out 1 year announcements and this is what the little card said, " So Sweet, So Cute, and So Much Fun....We can't believe our little girl is One! You could say something to the effect of "Ava's our Diva, Yes it's True, We Can't Wait to celebrate Her 1st Birthday with You!"

With more time I could think of other things! I'm also a scrapbooker so I could help you get crafty with the invitations if you need it!! I LOVE making cards & announcements!

take a digital photo of your daughter all diva-ed up! Then take it to walmart, walgreens, etc.... They can print up postcards with your invitation on them. You can get really creative if you have a good photo editing program.
Good luck

I made some invitations last year for my friend's daughter who was also turning one... I dressed her up in "Diva" gear, with fake pearls, a large brimmed hat, glasses, and a boa and took lots of photos. We picked out the favorite and on Photoshop, added the words, "Our little Diva is turning one! Please join us for some fun!" I added a clip art border of make up and stars and this was the front of the invitation.
