The GED test itself is only available by certified locations. She would have to actually go somewhere to take the test. She can register with a place online to take practice tests and lessons but they can be expensive. A couple places I looked at were $200 or more. Or she could register at a community college for less and get more of a classroom setting instruction. the other option is to buy a manual and study it on her own and then register for a test. There are a lot of places that pop up by googling but the actual GED is not valid unless at a GED Test Center. I recently looked into this for my husband--he left school in his country 1 month before graduating so never got his actual diploma. I bought a book and it is thick with a lot of examples and covers a lot of material. I got if from Barnes and Noble online and was ranked one of the best. There are a lot available.

If she was a decent student, I suggest finding a testing center that will allow her to take the test without studying first. I had been out of school for 5 years. The college I went to tried to talk me into classes and said if I failed the test I would have to go. But I passed it with flying colors without evening opening a book.

try your local City College.. nowadays, they have MANY classes online.. also, your friend may not have to pay as much and if need be, may also be able to get assistance via the school should she need help studying.. Sometimes, they have people who need to earn credits by tutoring. it's worth looking into..
I took my ged (years ago) although in person via the City College system..
it's was a good experience..
