Gallstones - Mystic,CT

I just got out of the hospital. I had severe abdomen pain. Two ultrasounds and a cat scan were taken.

I have a few gallstones. The gallbladder is not coming out.

I was told to give up fatty foods. My doctor cannot see me for another week for a follow-up.

One site says I can eat a low fat diet...almost any food as long as it is low in fat.
Another site says that I can eat a handful of foods.

?????

What can I do next?

My mother, at 70 something had gallstones. The doctor broke them up without making an incision. It's the stones that cause the pain. No need to take out the gall bladder if it's healthy.

I don'T think my mother changed her diet at all. A friend had her gall bladder removed. She ate low fat. Are the sites you read referring to dealing with gallstones or gall bladder removal.

I have a friend who nearly died recently from her gallbladder going seriously bad. She finally was rushed to the hospital, completely yellow, and the gall had back-washed into her liver or something.

She was almost dead. She has physically healed from the surgery but her digestive tract will never be the same. She cannot eat hardly any fat at all. If she does she is sick for days and in agony. So her diet is nearly fat free. She can eat some oils but even those are super super limited.

When I had gall bladder issues I found I had a 22 mm gall stone. I got mine out and suddenly I can drink OJ and not burp it up for days. I can eat fried foods and hadn't been able to do that before without it hurting me. I do NOT eat a low fat diet and have zero issues with having no gall bladder. I had mine out on a Monday and was back at work on Wednesday for half a day then went back full day on Thursday. I was back 80% for a week or so then back to 100%.

I can pretty much eat anything I want now and am completely grateful to have my gall bladder out.

I suggest you contact another doc that does gall stones and get them treated. One cousin got some sort of treatment to dissolve his. Then another friend took meds to get hers gone.

There's no reason to live with them. None at all. Your doc should have given you meds and arranged for further treatment. That's not what I'd say is good medical care is. Gall stones should be treated.

I had mine taken out. I had to wait about 2 weeks until I could have my surgery and in that time I was told NO fat in my foods at all. Once I had it taken out the first month if I had anything greasy or with any fat, I would have to RUN to the bathroom because it would go through and come right out. It's been years now and I can eat anything with no problems. If I were you, I would rather just get it taken out and not have to always be asking if there is any fat in the food when your at someones house, or have to read labels all the time to see if there is any fat. You really can't have any fat at all in your diet. Sorry!

If you are ending up in the hospital with severe pain, you will end up there again. Taking it out may be the best option. Especially if you have a low tolerance to pain. The surgery is easy as it is laparoscopic.

It took 15 years for a doctor to finally figure out that I had gallstones. The surgeon who removed said I should have been out cold from the pain. Why go through any of that if you already know what is causing your symptoms.

Go see another doctor for a second opinion. The stones are not going away. If you had an attack that put you in the hospital you very likely need to have it removed. It's pretty common. Esp after having kids.

Why are you adamant about the gallbladder not coming out?

its a simple surgery to fix an issue. Seems like common sense to fix it instead of living in pain.

Get a second opinion and go get your gallbladder out. My bestie just had hers out a couple of weeks ago and she feels SO much better.
