Hello all you awesome mommies!!!! I am wondering if anyone has had or is having a similar problem as me. I am still breastfeeding my 15 month old (mostly just at night but a couple of day feedings) and I have had two rather short peroids. I know this is gross but they were also very dark blood! I used to have pretty regular periods about every 27-30 days or so and these were a little bit longer it seemed. Im just wondering if this is normal or wierd, and is it normal to skip one if my hormones are trying to regulate?? hope someone has had a similar situation and can ease my mind!! thanks :)

What can I do next?

I had wacky periods too! I breastfed my daughter for 12 months and my son for 18 months, I didn't even start having anything until about 8 or so months and they were very sporadic and light. They eventually did even out after my son...I found out I was pregnant with him when my daughter was 12 months so that is why I stopped nursing her.

yep, totally normal. I breastfed that length of time as well, and my period started to come back all crazy like that too, very irregular and short for several months till it regulated. then I got pregnant.. so no 'normal' period for almost 4 years!!

Yeah, you're not alone. I actually just took a preg test because I was so worried that my last "period" was implantation bleeding. I started getting my period back at 5 months, now 9 months and still BF and have had 2 regular periods and 2 fake periods, where I only get a speck of blood for 1 or 2 days and then nothing. I've heard that after baby your periods can be pretty wonky, but they'll reregulate soon enough. If you're very concerned, or have other troubling symptoms, call your dr and speak to the nurse or make an appointment to go in. At the very least you'll get a professional opinion and some peace of mind.

After my son was born, and while i breastfed my period was all types of messed up

I didn't get a period for at least 5months after my son was born. I wasn't complaining, I can tell ya that.

BF causes all types of weird stuff like that.
Once i Did get my period it was never "on -time" I actually had it twice in one month then skipped the next month and so on.

Normal, normal, normal....I got pregnant with #2 b/c I put too much trust in my untrustworthy periods while I was bf #1. #2 is now 2 yrs old and has been weaned for 4 months, I still buy pregnancy tests in bulk even though we aren't trying and I am hypervigilant about birth control.... It can take up to 1 yr to regulate ovulation and menstration after giving birth (most don't take this long) and up to 1 yr to regulate after complete weaning from bf. You're fine...mind at ease...

Sounds like everything is absolutely normal. I follow the NFP (Natural Family Planning) method for birth control and when I was going through the class they said that even months after you stop breastfeeding your period will still be out of whack.
