Hello,
We are planning out next vacation. My son wants to go to Austin, Texas. We will be visiting the State Capital and the Bob Bullock Museum. Other than those two things, are there any other things that are an absolute must-do while in Austin? My son is 9 (will be almost 10 at the time of our trip). We will be going in July or August.
Thank you,
R.

If you like caves, there are several within easy driving distance of Austin. North of Austin, (on the south side of Georgetown), is Inner Space Cavern. South of Austin, but lots closer to San Antonio, is the Natural Bridge Cavern.

In Zilker Park you have the Barton Springs Pool... a VERY cold treat on a hot summer day. Some people love it... it was too cold for us, though. It is spring-fed.

Hi R.,

My girls were 6 and 9 when were went to Austin. The bats coming out from under the Congress Avenue bridge was something they really remembered and enjoyed. You'll be sitting on the river bank so take blankets to sit on and a frisbee or even a picnic while you wait. The state capital was also exciting for them....

My husband and I took our honeymoon in Austin b/c a band we love was playing a festival there. We did the inner space cavers (very very cool. A boy would LOVE it), watched the bats come out from under a bridge, went to the hard rock, Mt. Bonnel was really neat, we picnicked by the river and visited Stubbs bbq. All were really cool. They also do duck tours. I don't remember what it was but we wanted to do it but ran out of funds before we did. Have fun! I love Austin!
