Found a Pinhole in My Plastic Waterbottle

Last night I was half way through my plastic water bottle when I noticed a tiny pin hole. Now I am freaking out wondering if someone injected something into it. Have any of you ever come across this before? It wasn't leaking. The air was coming out which made me look closer. The water didn't taste any different. I don't want to come down with some crazy virus that I can't get rid of. Annoyed and worried. I called the Dasani water company and asked if they knew of something like this happening in manufacturing and they said no and wanted to send me a coupon for a free 24 pack of water. Hmmmm . . . not feeling like drinking their water at the moment. I asked my 6 year if she was poking the water bottles and she said no. My two year old perhaps. But she wouldn't have stopped at one hole.

Anyway, just curious if anyone has encountered this issue before. Thank you.

What can I do next?

I haven't encountered this, however I have a suggestion for you how it may have happened -- one that will let you breathe a little easier. Grocery man, putting bottles/boxes of water on the shelf, slicing open the bigger cardboard boxes they come in grazes that bottle with the tip of his box cutter. Not enough to put a hole the water would leak out of, but enough to weaken that spot until you get it out to drink it, squish the bottle a little as you are holding it, and viola! a pin hole.
Get a quality water bottle and drink filtered water. That's what I do, minus the filter. I would filter ours, but it comes directly from a mountain spring.

I invested in a water filter and several Klean Kanteen bottles . . . I'm not nuts about bottled water anymore, both from a safety and an environmental standpoint.

Air bubble? If it wasn't leaking that would be what you saw.

They are making the bottles thinner and thinner to reduce the plastic amounts...maybe that's why some are "squishier" than others.

I've really been thinking about nixing the bottled water completely and using the refillable, filtered ones.

Our last 24 pack of Dasani had a couple of bottles that were "squishy" before they were opened...by that I mean they didn't feel hard or under pressure like I am used to. I usually buy the Sam's Choice 24 pack at Walmart for $3.99......tastes like Dasani and we have never had any problems. I bought the Dasani @ Publix when it was on sale because it was easier than making another stop....but it did leave me with an uneasy feeling too! We can't be too careful in this day and age!
