If You Own a Water dispenser....Is It Worth the Money ???

Our whole family is not drinking enough water and I cannot stand the tap water here....it has a nasty taste to it.....even though my husband says I'm full of it and tries to trick me by filling a jug with tap water I still taste the difference....

I was looking at Ozarka home delivery that comes with a dispenser (if you buy their plan), but reading the fine print I'd rather buy a dispenser at the store and buy the gallons as we need them....

I like the convenience of it but I'd like to have some opinions from you to make my final decision....

Do you regret buying a dispenser or was it worth every penny ???

This is the dispenser I'd like to purchase....

We are getting a Berkey water filter - considered the best anywhere. They are used by UNICEF in 3rd world countries to make the water safe. I would look into one for you guys as well!

My family all has Brita or PUR brand filters that hook right up to the sink.
They come with filters and work great.
We live somewhere that there is a lot of iron in our water and the filters are awesome.
Some bottled water companies that deliver to your house is just water that's basically filtered from a spring well and I'd rather filter at home, but that's just me.

I hope you get some great responses.

PUR or Brita have always been recommended, I don't know much about your model but that doesn't mean it isn't good. Try a consumer reports review about which is best.

Absolutely worth every penny!! I'm almost surprised when I see people still using plastic bottled water on a daily basis. Horrible for our landfills. Even recycling costs our economy $$$ so filters are the way to go!!

Also, I read Ozarka & Dasani are no better that tap water. I've also read the number or cities/states that violate the water regulations is sky rocketing. That tells me our water is getting worse and worse.

I even use a shower head filter for my kids baths and my showers. Dr. Oz did an entire show about water quality. See if you can view it or read about it on his website. He recommended a water filter for your shower head as well. Bathing in hot water that has toxins in it has been to be reported far worse than actually drinking tap water. Your body absorbs the VOC's (volatile organic compounds).

I have a dispenser and go to a water store to fill it myself. The gentlemen at the store carry it out for me and it costs about 1/3 the price as having it delivered. I have about 5 plastic jugs and go twice a month and they fill it up in the store. You can check to see if there is a local store like that near you. It is a quick errand for me and worth the great tasting water at a better price!

We have both a Brita pitcher and also the PUR filter that attaches to your kitchen faucet, I used to spend too much money buying bottled water and now I am so happy with the PUR filter on my faucet, we just use the Brita pitcher so when I am cooking or doing dishes no one is min my way = ) Helps keep the peace = )

It's such a pain hauling water. I would also check into a reverse osmosis unit if I were you. I have had one for the 12 years I've been in my home -- I don't like the taste of our water either. We have the filters changed once a year and that costs about $40. I don't remember what the actual unit cost. It's in our basement and is hooked up to our sink and refrigerators.

I agree with the others, get a filter for your water. We have well water and it tastes like...well water ;) It's very mineraly. We bought a PUR filter for our faucet and it takes out all the chemicals.
So many of the bottle waters are just tap water filtered by a reverse osmosis process. You can even buy a permanent filter that will go underneath of your sink. They cost a couple hundred dollars to put in, but I've heard nothing but good things about them.
We drink a LOT of water in my house. We tried the grocery store thing for awhile, but it turned into a huge hassle. Carting them back and forth all the time was a pain. Not to mention, my husband would drink the last of the water and not tell me. So, we wound up drinking the tap water anyway.

We use Brita - it holds about a gallon, it's the kind with a spicket not the pitcher. I personally don't want anything hooked up to my faucet b/c I have an attachment that allows my faucet to swivel - the attachment is too bulky for our use.

Get the PUR pitcher that has a filter in it. You put your water from the tap in there it goes throught the filter and it tastes great.

Have you tried or thought of using a Brita pitcher? It might be worth a try, a lot less than committing to the bottled water.

Another thought, you might want to add a slice of lemon or lime to your water to help with the taste.

Don't buy water. Filter the water you have. There are lots of ways, all good!
