With my first I took 6 weeks off to recover from the c-section, worked a week while she was still in NICU (that was pure hell!), took the last 6 weeks of my FMLA (had the time off for both but hadn't been there long enough to have vacation/sick time built up to pay for it!) to be home with her, then she was home 7 weeks with my mom. My second she started at 8 weeks when I went back to work because my dr wouldn't release me before then. Again this job doesn't have paid maternity leave so I only had enough to cover insurance which saved me from going to COBRA. However she was hospitalized at 6 weeks which set me back on recovery/sleep and I wish I just would have taken another week or two or the rest of FMLA!!!
NE licensing starts at 6 weeks. Except the high schools that have daycare they get a special license for them to start at 2 weeks I believe.
