I had allergic reaction to a peach. My face broke out and my eyes got itchy and watery. Maybe I didn't wash it as good as I thought. Can you become sensitive to food while pregnant?

You can become sensitive to foods at any time - pregnant or not. You should see an allergist as food allergies can be dangerous. I should know...I'm allergic to 67 of the 96 foods I was tested for. And I waited till I was in my late 40's before I started having problems.

Yes. Now do not eat anymore peaches or their near relatives until next spring. And when you try it eat only a small bite and see if your throat clamps up. Eat only organic peaches as the sprays can be the true allergin.

It's possible to develop sensitivities at any time. It's also possible for allergies and sensitivities to go away at any time.

I would think that during pregnancy, when your body is already under greater stress than usual, would be a time that new sensitivities could show up. I don't know whether there are any studies on this.

Absolutely. People can become sensitive to foods they've had before at any age, which is why you hear about people going to the hospital with a reaction to tomatoes or lobsters after eating that food all their lives.

haha When I was pregnant with number three I could not stomach a banana. I have always loved bananas. Come to find out she is allergic to them. After 13 years I can eat them but not like I did before, I get nauseous after a couple bites.

A person can develop an allergy to anything at any time during their whole life.

I have always eaten pecans and almonds and had an allergic reaction last Fall where my tongue and lips swelled up.

It's just one of those things that make life fun!

I'm not sure, but my husband sometimes has a similar reaction to oranges. He is pretty sure it was caused by the pesticides they spray on it.

Yes you can become allergic to a particular food at anytime. It happened to me. About 6 about a year ago now I suddenly started itching out of the blue. I tried to do the usual narrowing it down of anything new I may have changed in my diet or daily routine and couldn't find the answer. I finally did an allergy blood test and found out that I am now allergic to milk.

I never had sensitivity being heightened during pregnancy but do know many other women do have it.
My DH & granson both have to have their peaches pealed before eating because the little 'hairs' cause them to have a small red rash that lasts about 5 mins..

You can develop a food allergy at any time, pregnant or not. I definitely would not eat another peach while pregnant and I would be very cautious with them even after the pregnancy.

Your reaction can be worse with subsequent exposure, so be careful when you do try it again.
