I am in my first trimester (8 weeks.) Does anybody know if it is safe to get a flu shot? One of my doctors said wait until after the first trimester and the other doctor said it was okay.

What can I do next?

I wouldn't get it at all. The inserts say that the ingredients/affects are not known on pregnant women/fetuses. Most of the shots also contain mercury/thimerosal. Unless you have some severe illness that would make it almost necessary to get this shot, I would just by-pass it.

I didn't really research it much, but I got my flu shot in my 1st trimester, and baby and I were fine. Keep in mind, I have to get the flu shot because I am a severe asthmatic.

Personally, I would definitely wait-- why introduce a virus, voluntarily, into your body when your baby is in the earliest weeks of crucial development? Wash your hands a lot and carry Purell and stay away from sick kids/ adults! Best of luck, C.!!
