Jo is right, you CAN do it!
Won't help you today, but when you get home I strongly recommend signing up for AAA. One of the few bargains left in the world. It would've paid for itself today just with your flat tire.

:)
You can change it yourself and any service station can plug it for under 15 dollars.
The instructions for placing and using the jack should be in your glove box. To loosen the nuts just place the crow bar on the nut at an angle and jump on it. Make sure the tire is still on the ground when you loosen them. Counter clockwise loosens the nuts. :)
You can change a tire, I promise. It's easy. I've done it on a 4-lane highway by myself dressed for work after a blow-out. My best advice is this: make sure you loosen the lugnuts BEFORE jacking the car up. Other than that, easy-peasy.
I wish I had seen this earlier. I'm sure by now you've gotten it fixed and you're on your way.
Goodyear at the corner of Oak and Lake is a great local place to get a tire fixed. Great guys there.
I have AAA. Even though I know how to change a tire and have done it before, it's too dangerous around here because of the traffic. AAA is worth every penny, and it's not really even that expensive. Check it out for the future.

Why can't YOU do it? Don't you know how to change a tire?! Come on!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! Depending upon your car and your location (flat surface vs inclined driveway) it should take about 30 minutes to get the jack out of the back of your car, jack your car up, remove the old tire and put the new tire on.
If not. Call AAA. They will send someone out to do it for you.
GOOD LUCK!!
I had a flat a couple of weeks ago too!
Should I be able to change my tire? Probably. I have two roadside assistance programs: PHH for my fleet car backed up by AAA on my own. My 18 year old daughter has roadside assistance from VW backed up by AAA. I would rather not get on the ground in my suit and strappy heals when I am paying for this kind of service and I prefer my daughter stay safe.
Good luck!
aw - I just got to work and I go through Bartlett!! I would have helped you!! You can do it - but it's chilly and rainy - I hope you got someone to help out!!!
I recommend Discount Tire, Pep Boys, or Sears. I have had good experiences with all of them.
I'm gonna add to the basic instructions:
Loosen the lug nuts diagonally from each other --- loosen each one only a little -- then go back and loosen them more. If you loosen them in order or a circle and too much at a time you will inadvertently tighten the ones next to the previous one.
It's a good thing to practice on a warm sunny Saturday. If you have daughters make sure they know basics of auto care. Everyone should know how to check the fluids, air pressure, and change a tire.
But I second AAA. If you need a tow once in 2 yrs you just paid for your membership.
do u have a donut or a spare? .. me n my fiance have been together 4 years and one of the first things he taught me was how to change a tire.. before we dated my ex was pretty much useless when it came to stuff like that and my dad is a "mans man" if somethings broken or whatever he does it so i was never taught.. iv seen my fiance change a tire in the pouring rain, change my oil in freezing cold weather.. ive actually learned alot when it comes to cars and fixing things because of him.. the only pain in the butt part of changing a tire, for me anyway, is jacking up the car.. the rest is pretty damn simple
