thumpkin,
oh mr sun, sun mr golden sun please shine down on me-- Raffi
It's not a finger play but for toddlers i used to lightly drape a lightweight blanket over their heads and sing Who oh Who is under the blanket? repeat 2 x and then pull off the blanket and say their name.
Jim Gill is really fun. On our fav of his CDs(I can't remember the name) there's a song called something like List of Dances and it's hilarious. I've gotten my son, husband niece and nephews following the dances he lists out and dancing around like crazy every time I play it. Check it out of the library before you buy. There are a bunch of other really fun songs on this CD too. Carol Peterson has a song Walking Shoes that's fun, but her voice is really irritating to me (high pitched), so that's the only song we ever play by her. It's great, though. The other group we really like is Trout Fishing in America. It's not fingerplay but their songs are infectious; they sound like a regular band, but when you listen to the lyrics it's all kid-related stuff. I hope you get a lot of feedback on this question--I'm always looking for good, fun new kids music that's not too irritating for adults to hear over and over and over and over (bc that's what kids do once they like a song!)
I just use the search engine....use the title to the question you've posted & you'll come up with a whole new world! I do this monthly with my daycare kids. Right now we're working on St Pat's songs.
Carole Peterson has a bunch of those, also check out Jim Gill- he does a lot of dances and movement. My 2 and 4 y/os have loved everything they sing!
