I have looked everywhere for a middle name and have become stumped. We've decided on the name Gillian but nothing seems to fit the middle name. And we don't have any family names that will work. HELP!
Thanks to everyone who took the time to come up with a name for my new little girl! I think we're going to be going with Gillian Rhys (Reese). Still undecided on the spelling. I want the more difficult spelling only because it's unique and the middle name isn't used that often enough to have to worry about everyone mispelling it all the time.
Thanks again, all input was greatly appreciated!!

My daughter is Abby Simone. Gillian is a very pretty name. I would keep the middle name to no more than two syllables. I loved Simone for a middle name and since it is a little different, I wanted something simple and not too long for a first name. Good Luck and please let us know what you choose!

Looking at the other responses I think the best middle name will depend on your last name. Also, look at how the initials will line up. I like Gillian Ann or Gillian Leigh (or Lee). Are you sure there are no family names that will work on either side? Aunts, cousins, in-laws, grands?

Sooooo many replies from people huh?? I have a neice named Gillian Paige. I think it's beautiful. She lives in San Antonio so you could use the name and no one would ever know except you & I that there are 2 Gillian Paiges in the world.
you definitely should use a 1 syllable middle name. Think of your little girl learning to write her name! So many people suggested 3 syllable middle names. Wow--tooooo long!

I think it really depends on your last name. If you have a short, one syllable last name, then a longer middle name might sound nice. If it is a longer last name, then a one syllable name sonds nice to break up the first & last name. You should also consider what the initials will be, kids can be very cruel about that! Another consideration is to use the mom's maiden name as the middle name (depending on how it sounds) so that both sides of the family are represented.
Good luck! All that being said, my husband & I picked a very biblical name for our son's first name and a more modern name for his middle.

My daughter's name is Jillian Paige. We call her Paige(going by your middle name is a tradition in my husband's family). I was set on her first name being Jillian, and we did have to consult a baby name book to come up with her middle name. I do hope this helps. Good luck on finding her perfect name.

My husband and I had the same problem finding a middle name for our little girl, we named her Gwendolynn, i liked the middle name chase, grace, or cadence, he wanted madison. we finally decided to let her pick her own middle name, we finalize it when she is 12 on her social security card, leaving a space. right now it is "kitten" it was "snake" lol, but she is 4, so it has yet to be decided by her of course. I like my decision because it will give her creative input on something very important, and somewhat defining. Just a thought.
i personally go for names that others would not think about often, so my suggestion would be Gillian Monique. I wish you the best of luck with the new baby.
god bless,
M.

with so many pretty names you really don't need another comment but will give one anyways. LOL
Is there someone in the family that you could use thier name as a first name allow Gillian be a middle name but just use the name Gillian for her name?
another solution is if there is several names in the family you like but feel it won't work, write thier names on a sheet of paper, and see if a name could be form using letters of thier name...
sometimes a name can be an inital...
again I agree with those that wrote about the last name.
whatever you chose put all the name together and see how it sounds, and if you like it then go with it, if not think of others until you find that right name.
A name is very important... also sometimes the meaning of a name plays a important role in a child's life.
Like with my oldest gd's name I didn't care for it in the beginning and it a name that you really never hear, but after she was born and as she grew the name went with her personality and I love it now.. It fits her to a T.
The 2nd gd's name it took forever for my daughter to find it
as it is Hanna and my name for the kids are Nana... so a name like that could come up... think of everyone.. If there is a reason why you do not want to use a family name, is there someone that is very close to you that is like a family member that you might like to use it and they would feel honor that you did.
Also if you are a christian pray about the name... GOD can place the right name in your and your husband mind.
Whatever I wish you the best as you find that right name for you little one. May GOD bless you and the little one..
God Bless

I like Gillian Grace. Patrice is nice too. (Something different.) My daughter has my middle name. Maybe something that has ties to your backgrounds/ethnicity. My daughter's nick-name is actually a very common Irish boy name(Rori - we changed the common spelling with Rory to Rori), but I wanted Irish because of our last name.
When are you due? I was born in December so my parents used that. All of my names (and my bro's) were for the meaning, not how they sound. My full name means "A pearl, precious, a gift from God" It's a little corny, but sweet. I had two middle names. I thought it was ridiculous growing up, but when I got married, I fought so hard to have my full name on the license.
G. Aleece Noelle (mouthful!!!). My maiden name was very long and started with G, so my initials spelled GANG. lol
Good luck with your names!

I think the name Gillian is a pretty name. Have you thought about no middle name. I didn't have one and thought it was cool, though sometimes i'd make middle ones up. Have you thought about combining yours and her dads name to make a name? I too like the sound of Gillian Grace. Whatever you decide say out loud. A friend of mine named her daughter Alle Ann (alle is pronounced (A Leigh) So if you say her name it sounds like Alien...

Since Gillian is an unusal name (you don't hear it alot) I would consider a more common name as a middle name. That way when she gets older, she can choose to go by her middle name if she is one of those people that HATES their name. It's cute for a baby, but think about how she will like it in college or HS.
Gillian Nichole
Gillian Ashley
Gillian Marie
Gillian Kate
Gillian Emily

Try something traditional the traditional names always seem to fit:
Examples
Gillian Robert
Gillian Thomas
Look at the baby name book if you have one and just say them out loud together something will fit.
My youngest is Dillon Patrick and my Mom actually helped me with a middle name because I could not find anything to me that sounded right.
If you have a baby shower have that be a game or just ask friends to help you out.
Like I said eventually it will come!
Hope this is helpful!

Finding the perfect name is a funny subject for me because I went through the exact same thing!!! So we decided to have 2 middle names for our girls and that works out really well... as far as it going well together its all up to what you would feel is right.. for example one of my daughters middle name (one of them) is Lily.. because throughout my pregnancy I smelled lilies saw lilies and just became my favorite flower so thats how I came up with that!!! GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!!!!!

I love the name Gillian! My husband and loved it so much that we named our first daughter Gillian Celeste 23 years ago. She is a beautiful, young woman now and loves her name. And we did spell Gillian with a "G", not a "J" despite our critics. Because her name was unusal and spelled with a "G" her teachers and college prof's new her when they saw her both on and off campus. We, and our daughter, are glad we did not change the spelling. Hope this helps.
