Last week, I was lost my job. The company I was working for is about to shut their doors. I was working for a commercial real estate company which was paying for me to get my real estate license. I have completed two out of seven classes that they payed for. My question is should I finish real estate school or find a new job. Financially I should be able to complete the school requirements to get my license but need reassurance that I'm doing the right thing. Will getting my license help in my job search once complete? I value all your opinions. Please help me see the light.

hi R.. I'm the mother of 3 children, thanfully I still have a job. I work for a mortgage company and I was very scared to get laid off, and I'm still scared. However, I'm almost a full time student at Collin College. I think that you are better off finishing your school and then looking for a job. If I lost my job, I would try to finish as much school as possible before going to look for a job. I wish you luck!
Finish school! It will be better for you in the long run. Also, look into unemployment. If you were laid off, there should be some unemployment benefits available to you. That would keep some income flowing in while you finish school.
Definitely finish and get your real estate license. The market is going to pick back up and you will always be able to find a job in the real estate field whether it be in apartment leasing, residential or commercial.

My dad always told me. There is a time and place for everything. If you don't have any other family obligations you should always get an education. Meanwhile why not look for a home based job so you can go to school and make some money? I'm in great home based business and it doesn't alot of my time. Check out my website for more info

I agree with everyone...finish school! While you're going to school, you can work part-time to help with expenses...I work part-time in direct sales...I pick and choose my hours.

Why not do both? Even if you do not find a job in real estate right now. You can always get back into real estate after you finish school. And you do not know how many jobs there are out there that would pay for your education now days. Good Luck!
Find a successful real estate team to join. See if you can be hired as an assistant to get your feet wet while finishing your license. You will then have the proper support to get your career started. Many people get into real estate thinking it's easy but it takes alot of networking to be successful and getting with someone who has already been down that road is a huge help.

COMPLETE SCHOOL!!!! I took 6 years off of school when I got married and had both of my kids... now here I sit with a 5 year old girl and a 3 year old boy and I have been back in school for 2 years and take my last final exam on the 21st! If financially you can make it without your job then go for it! You are benefiting yourself and your family!
I was in the same situation at one point, and I chose to look for a job instead. I started working and never finished school. After working in my job for almost 5 years, we moved and I quit. Now looking at the big picture, if I would have stayed in school the possibilities of finding a new job would have been greater. Here in this area especially, they pay high attention to your educational background.

No matter what field of employment, the more education you have, the more certificates, the more training etc, the more likly you are to find a job and your salary will be higher. If you can afford to finish on your own than keep at it. There is no reason you can not look for a job and keep going to school, that also impresses employers when they see that you are trying to better yourself. You may even find another company that will help cover the costs.
Or you can find a part time job and finish on your own.
