A.S.
Everytime I tell my 5 year old that I'm feeling nauseas because I'm pregnant, he offers to cuddle with me! He kisses my belly, which hasn't even started to grow yet, and asks the baby to please let mommy feel better soon.
So, tonight was the night from hell. I promised my friend I would attend her art opening and birthday gathering. It's been a looooong week. Three sitters were not available, so it was me and the three kids (5, 3, and 2) against the world AGAIN. For some reason, none of my friends have kids. I have no problem taking them out to events and pubs (only decent dining in our area and where people usually meet), we always do it, but tonight I was tired. My two year old was exhausted and getting sketchy. Some of my friends, who don't know better, were riling up my other two with rowdy wrestling games and throwing them up and down (not knowing that's a one way ticket to mayhem with kids who are up late and just drank shirley temples) and things were about to go south, so we made our get away. It was a long walk to the car in the cold and I got everyone into the car etc. I was feeling SPENT. My husband hasn't been home since August and won't be home until the 20th and every day is just full of errands, school stuff, holiday events, and its hard. I was WISHING I WAS OUT BY MYSELF FOR ONCE!!! With more to drink than seltzer water for a change!!!
We get home, I'm carrying my 2 year old into her room for a diaper change, I still have on my boots (slight heels) and suddenly, on the wood floor, I slip on a toy and BADLY twist my ankle, and drop my child. She wasn't hurt at all, but screamed of course at the shock, and my ankle was BADLY hurt, so I was crying, and yelling "OW, OW, OW" and I never yell or cry. I'm super mellow, and the kids have never seen me get hurt. Between the thuds and the screams and the crying, both my older ones started SCREAMING, "MOMMY, MOMMY!" and they were t e r r i f i e d to see me sitting on the floor crying. I got it together and let them know it was OK etc.
I realized that all three of them, even the two year old I dropped, were instantly gathered around me, each with a little hand on me for comfort, and waiting for the go ahead to pounce and hug me. They were all in tears and taking turns trying to tell me how fast they came to see if I was OK, and needing reassurance that everything was OK. We sat for a while and talked it over right where I fell and I answered all their tearful questions about it not being broken, and not calling 911 etc. My son went in his room, grabbed his pillow pet, and put it on my ankle. My two year old was beside me petting my hair saying, "OK mama?OK, Mama?". They were asking if I should make some tea or if they could get some ice---the tables were totally turned from all the boo boos I've nursed :)
My ankle really hurts, but you know what? I LOVE MY BABIES SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
Have you guys ever had a boo boo your kids fixed for you?

Awwww what a sweet, heart warming story! You have such caring kiddos. My daughter is sweet like that too. My husband has bad knees and ankles (he jumped out of too many airplanes while in the service) and my daughter will always kiss his knees when she knows they are hurting daddy. There is nothing sweeter than getting kisses from your baby. Sounds like you are doing a great job with yours!
What a heartwarming story! Bunch of sweet kiddos you have good job Momma!
What a wonderful story!
Here's mine (a boo boo of the heart):
My mom passed away suddenly a year and a half ago. A few weeks later, I received a hand-made charm bracelet from a friend of her's with charms she picked that reminded her of my mom. I started bawling when I opened it. My then 3-year-old son said, "What's wrong, Mommy? Is it GiGi?" I said yes. He came over to me and put his hand on my shoulder when I squated down and said "Don't be sad, Mommy." I said, "I know, Buddy. I just miss my mommy." He looked me in the eyes and said, "Well, I'll be your mommy." : )
I'm certain this will be my favorite memory/story forever.
What a sweet story! I agree with Laurie. You are doing a great job with them! Way to go, Mama! Hope your ankle feels better soon! I'm clumsy so I hurt myself frequently. Too frequently, I guess, because I never get that much of a reaction. My two year old recently offered to get me an ice pack when I hurt myself, so that made me feel good.
Yes, and it is so beautiful to be so loved by our children.
Take care of yourself. Sounds like you are doing a great job. Your children have compassion and want to take care of you the same way you care for them.
I wish I lived close by so I could babysit for you... Eventually you will get some time for yourself, until love those babies.. Our daughter is away at college and we miss her every day..
Aw what sweet babies you've raised. Good job mama.
So sorry about your ankle.
I hope you got a chance to ice it and if you didn't, try to do it now.
Even if you have to use a frozen pack of peas.
Eleveate your ankle tonight in bed.
My toddler has been sick so he's been extra loving. He keeps telling me how much he loves me & hugging me.
That's the best thing in the world.
The time goes by fast & you WILL get time to yourself again, I promise.
Enjoy this time when they are young. It is sweet, precious & fleeting.
I watch my husband's family w/their older kids (teens & pre-teens and I am NOT WISHING away this time. ha ha. :)
Give yourself a huge pat on the back, rest that ankle & know that you are laying the foundation now. You'll get time for yourself soon enough.
Maybe buy a little treat for yourself tomorrow.
You deserve ti!
Your story was heart warming. I have 3 girls - 14, 6 and 7 weeks - When the baby was 2 weeks we had decided to go out for dinner, I was tired, but feeling great. We took the girls and went into town had an awesome dinner - we were walking to the car and I looked down and the sidewalk was level with the parking lot . . . or so I thought, I half stepped off the sidewalk, twisted my ankle and down I went. I was wearing a skirt, so skinned both my knees (bad too) and one of my palms. Thank God my husband had the baby. My girls felt so bad - my6 year old cried because she felt so bad. And everytime they'd see my knees they say oh mom, I feel so bad for you. My 6 yr old is really clumsy, just this summer, she skinned both knees and fell on them 2 more times before they finally healed - so she said, oh mom, lets hope you don't fall on it again like I did.
.
Thats so sweet. Hugs to the sweet little kids. What more would a mom want !
I cut my finger on a broken xmas light and my 9 yo son freaked out and went running in the house. I kind of chuckled thinking he was afraid and didn't want to see all the blood (it was dripping fast off my finger). Before I could even get into the house, he came back out with my baggie of bandaids and neosporin....aaawwww...and here I thought he took off and left me and he didn't, he was saving me! So sweet!
