JFF: How Do Your Kids Make Your Day?

My son... so recently it was my birthday.
My son, that morning was saying "shhhh..." to everyone. When I went upstairs, he asks me if he can give me my present. I say sure.
He goes to his hiding place... (I make like I don't know where it is), and he comes and gives me a drawing he made (of me) and $1.28 cents (which he got from his own bank and he doesn't have a lot of money). And gave me a huge hug and wished me a happy birthday and said "now you have money Mommy..."
OMG, I almost cried!
I don't know how his 5 year old mind... knew what Mommy needed! ;)
I don't go around talking about wanting money or what not.
And the drawing he made was priceless.
It was so touching..... I could not believe it.
He seemed like a grown up young man, when he did that.
So profoundly thoughtful...
It amazed me.

Anyway, JFF, how have your kids made your day recently?

What can I do next?

When I got home from my exercise class tonight my 23 month old kept putting her hands on my cheeks and saying MISH. MISH. MISH. I was trying to guess what she was saying bc she said it all garbled up. Finally I said miss? Yes she nodded her head. You missed me? YES!!!! She was very emphatic. Then she kissed me on the face and said MISH!!!! And then she looked at me with love in her eyes and said it a bit sadly, Mish. And she kissed me again and again. AWWWWWWWWWWW! Kids are the best.

So precious!

My 17 and 18 year old lay down in bed and let me read "Go the F**K to Sleep" to them last night. It's the first time in years I've been able to read them a bedtime story. :)

I am pregnant and very nauseous. My husband bought me those sea band wrist warmers that helps with nausea. I was sitting on the couch wallowing in self pity when my 3 yr old brought me my sea bands. He said, "Here mommy, so the food doesn't come back out of your mouth."

We don't talk about my sickness or what the bands are for, but little ones are very perceptive and he was obviously paying attention to what mommy needed!

At bedtime, I got teary eyed after tucking my littlest one for the night. My eldest noticed when it was her turn.
"Oh, Nanay, are you ok? You're crying."
"I'm just happy Boot."
"You are?"
"Yeah, Roroot just told me she love me without me saying it first."
"Awww, Nanay that's great. Tatay! Tatay!..." she hollers for her father to let him know what her sister (who is autistic and only seems to echo her I love yous prior to tonight) just did."

Life is great and tonight it felt like Christmas morning.

Too sweet :) Today my 20 month old made my day at the dinner table by belly laughing like a grown man! It was so stinkin' cute that it got me, my husband and my 4 year old busting up. Then the baby started this funny grunting thing and all my men starting trying to out grunt each other. I felt like I was on the cast of 'Tool Time' with Tim Allen. I guess that is life with a house full of dudes, it was so hilarious, especially bc it was the baby that was keeping it going ;) My four year old really gets me in that he ALWAYS wants mommy to have flowers. He will tell my hubby that he should get me some, and there isn't a flower he sees that he doesn't pick for me, albeit sometimes they are actually weeds ;) I still love it :D

What a nice question.

Well, today my 3 year old did a stability ball workout with me. She used a basketball since she is small :) The whole time, she kept saying, "Mom, you're doing great! You are doing a great job!" So cute.

My 6 year old is very responsible. I am exhausted right now from working all day, and I am clocked in finishing my last few hours of work (I work from home). She just cleaned the whole kitchen including doing all the dishes, putting away dinner, wiping all the counters and table... it is spotless! just to be nice and to surprise me.

My 8 year old...well, we are having a rough day, him and I, but the other day he said if he wins a coloring contest he will buy me anything I want :)

Things like that make it all worthwhile, don't they?

My soon-to-be 3 year old told me while I was getting in the car this morning, "Mommy, you beautiful." I didn't even know he knew or could say that word! I think it's the best compliment I've ever received, and I really needed it this morning! My oldest then gave me a big kiss when I was buckling him in and the youngest said, "Come here so I can kiss you too." His little kisses are so sweet -I really thought about it all day, so yeah, he definitely made it!

One of the things that tugs at my heartstrings the most is when I see my 15 year old daughter pick up her two-year-old brother and hold him so tenderly. He responds to her by wrapping his little arms around her neck and squeezing. He is sweeter and gentler with her than with anyone else!

My 10 month old just has to give me a toothy, nose wrinkling, eye scrunching grin and I *melt*.

My 5 year old (still cranky from adjusting to kindergarten's full days) offered to help me clean up after dinner.

My 3 year old was helping me make muffins yesterday and kept asking me will I teach her to use the oven, will I teach her to use the grater, will I teach her to make dinner, etc. It was so sweet :)

My kids always find ways to make my day.

One time I was upset and crying about something and my kids came up and kiss me and said "its ok mommy,I love you!!"

Another I was getting dress and my oldest said "mommy you look so pretty" and then hug me.

Another time I hit my foot on something and I said ouch, and my youngest kiss my boo boo on my foot. :)

I think the greatest is when all my kids are happy and they are playing nicely and hugging and kiss each other and telling the other one I love you!!
Makes me feel good to know that they love each other that much.

that's soooo sweet, I love it! My daughter made my night the other day when I was tucking her into bed. She said, "Mama, you're the most wonderful mama in the whole wide world!" I laughed and said, "Oh, thank you darling, but I'm not the most wonderful, but I do try my hardest..." She looked at me incredulously and said, "What are you talking about?? Of COURSE you are the best mommy in the whole wide world! Why would you say you aren't??"

mmmmm...my sweet 6 yo

My biggest would be when I pick my son up from school. He's 6 and so he's getting more and more independent. I can't kiss him as much etc. But after school when he sees me he comes running full speed and gives me a HUGE hug. Makes me feel SO special. He may act grown up, but he still loves his mommy. :-)

I love this question! My 4-y.o. has been such a delight these last several weeks. I have an old school fear of the gods striking me down because of hubris whenever I brag about my kids, but I always do want to rejoice in the good days of mommyhood. And this last month with my boy especially has been so much fun.

One of my favorite ways he makes my day is that he lets me sleep in! The baby and I will wake up, and I'm almost always pleasantly surprised that it's after 8:00. My son has been waking up on his own and then just quietly entertaining himself until I get up. One time, he let me sleep until after 9:00! It's such a wonderful way to start the day. What a difference it makes to be well-rested!

My daughter is 17 months old, and she's just chattering away. I overheard this exchange between her and my son this morning. I gave them both their breakfasts and then needed to run to the other room to grab something. I told my son, "You're in charge!" I heard him tell his sister, "That means you can't tell Brother 'no.'" And I heard her little voice say, "No!" I don't know why that struck me as so funny.

They are such fun ages right now! I'm feeling so blessed.

Sweet! My kids blow my mind every day. they say, 'I love you" so often and freely. They get my jokes and crack up when I act weird. They compliment my paintings. They beg to spend time with me even if we're already together. They're happy whatever we do. My 5 year old has gotten into a really helpful phase and is always asking to help. They just love me and melts my heart every day, because I love them more! I'm definitely not wanting these young toddler years to pass. My 3 year old is super big, and I dread not being able to pick him up anymore :( Most of all I love overhearing my kids play together. My older two know my 2 year old's secret language, and cater the games to her too. Whenever I change clothes, even just into some other sweats, one of them will say, "ooh, mom, pretty!" and if I get "dressed up" they all ooh and awe like I'm a queen. :)

What a great question S.H.!

SO many ways.....watching them get excited about their own journey's....and fighting for airtime at the dinner table to tell their stories first...love love love watching their true enthusiasm for life..and at 16,12 and 8...watching them treat each other with love and respect(most of the time!) and watching them interact with others out in the world with confidence and respect! They bring tears of joy to my eyes often!

Love coming home and as soon as the garage door closes, my three year old runs out to greet with a "Mama, you're home!" He then grabs my lunch box or the mail and immediately begins to tell me about his day. Love it!
