Here's an interesting theory for you to consider:

This doctor (Ritchie Shoemaker) believes that it's neurotoxins that cause the fibromyalgia symptoms in many people. I had Lyme disease, followed by Fibromyalgia (FM)/Chronic Fatigue(CFS). As I understand it, the primary difference between the two is that the pain is worse than the fatigue in FM and that for CFS, there is post-extertional fatigue that last 2 or 3 days anytime you do any activity beyond "normal", where ones "normal" activity has become quite minimal due to the pain and fatigue. I have been seeing Dr. Shoemaker for 6 months and am now doing significantly better, so I do believe his theories are entirely valid. Neurotoxins can come from the Lyme spirochete, pfisteria (fish born illness), mold, etc. Many believe they are "allergic" to mold, but it's really the toxins produced by the mold spores that are the problem, many of which are airborne.
Unfortunately, for folks in our area, Dr. Shoemaker is located in Pocomoke, MD. However, after having spent 2 1/2 years going to local doctors, who were only willing to give me prescriptions for drugs to appease the symptoms - none were willing to look for the root cause, I found the trip there well worth the cost and his cost for services are in general far less than what many of the other FM/CFS and Lyme gurus charge.
I have also used alot of alternative therapies that have been helpful including dietary modification to remove gluten, dairy and nightshade vegetables, as well as eating as much organic, unprocessed food as possible to not introduce additional toxins into my body, which is already overburdened.
Quality sleep is also important. In addition supplements like Magnesium, Malic Acid and B vitamins have proven to be essential.
The journey to wellness with this diagnosis is not an easy one, as individual is here for varying reasons, so there are many issues that must often be addressed.
