Fibroid While Pregnant..

Hello Mommas! I need your wisdom...
I'm just about 10 weeks pregnant and was recently told that I have a growing fibroid. I have to see a specialist to monitor that and the babies development along with my OB. I was told it is on the low end high risk, and that it is fairly common. At this point it is about the size of an egg. I will be going to my 1st appointment with a perinatologist December 21st. I'm not sure what to expect and I'm trying not to stress myself.
Does anyone have any personal experience or information to share. I did do a few google searches but, I don't want to research it to death. I would rather hear personal stories, not medical term scenarios of what could happen, know what I mean.
Thank you all in advance! I appreciate any input!
Take care all.

What can I do next?

I had a large fibroid during both of my pregnancies. No problems caused by the fibroid. The kids are grown; I still have the fibroid. It causes me no problems and my gyn says it will shrink to virtually nothing during the menopausal years. Basically, if a fibroid causes heavy bleeding, pain, swelling or leans against other organs to cause problems such as frequent urination, constipation, bloating, etc, the doctor will advise one of many solutions such as UFE, etc. If no symptoms, you will be in the "watchful waiting" category. I'm still in the "watchful waiting" category as mine has always been asymptomatic. Follow your OB's advice and try not to get too bothered by it until or if it becomes problematic.
BTW, congratulations:)

Well, I can't say much but I will tell you my experience. My fibroids were found shortly before becoming pregnant the 1st time. I have no idea how big mine were. They never caused me any problems. I had them with both pregnancies and as far as I know they didn't grow or if they did it wasn't much and they still never caused a problem. I'm on my 3rd pregnancy and am having an ultrasound on Friday so will see how they are doing this time. It means you will have more ultrasounds and more time to see your baby :) Mine never grew, hopefully yours won't either.

I had this with both of my pregnancies and it was no big deal at all. Sometimes I could feel it- just a tiny pang in the area- but otherwise it was no big deal at all. I remember my doctor saying that its fairly common and no concern. They apparently disappeared during or after the pregnancy? I wouldn't worry about it! Don't research too much online. Just check in with your doctor to determine what level of concerned you should be. The internet will freak you out unnecessarily!!

Congrats on your pregnancy!!

I have two fibroids that I had through two pregnancies with no problems. You will get more ultrasounds to make sure they're not growing too large, but many women have perfectly normal pregnancies with them. Good luck!

Mine grew when I was pregnant (hormones) and went pretty much back to size after I had DD. It didn't bother me or her and current wisdom is not to remove them or mess with them unless they are causing you pain or other issues. Keep an eye on it, but likely it will be fine unless it starts to crowd your baby in utero.

I discovered I had a fibroid during my first pregnancy. It grew during pregnancy from all of the extra blood and estrogen. I think mine got to be about 8cm in diameter which was not big enough to be scary, but big enough to be interesting, according to my doctor! I had an ultrasound once a month to watch it, which meant I got lots of extra peeks at the baby! It stopped growing somewhere before the pregnancy ended and never caused a problem with the pregnancy (i.e. stealing too much blood or crowding the baby from a space perspective so it couldn't grow properly). I do recall the ultrasounds being a little uncomfortable when they were pushing around by the fibroid. The fibroid showed up again with my second pregnancy, but didn't get nearly as big and fizzled out growth-wise early on. So, while it freaked me out a bit when I first learned I had it, it ended up being totally fine with no harm to me or the baby during or after the pregnancy. Good luck to you!

I had a fibroid that was the size of an eggplant during my pregnancy. I had it beforehand, and it grew quite a bit during pregnancy. But it was not in a space that interfered with the baby, and it was fine. I never had it removed. It shrunk some, but I don't know how much. You will only have a problem if it is inside and in the same space as the baby, or interfering with the birth canal. Otherwise you should be fine. Really. Mine was described as huge, humungous, oh-my-good that's big! and other like terms, and it never caused an issue.

I had a fibroid also, and still do actually, but it wasn't a problem, and it was only a couple of centimeters long. My aunt had two large ones while she was pregnant, and I know she had a few more problems, but nothing serious. Basically, I think that the pregnancy hormones make it grow bigger, so if it is inside the uterus, then the baby may have to fight for room to grow. But, if it's outside like mine, then the baby is fine. Don't worry about it too much, they didn't do anything for either one of us, and we both still have them. Mine because its not big enough to worry about, and my aunt because she had natural births and she doesn't want to have a surgery to take it out. Don't stress because that will actualy be worse for the baby right now than the firbroid. I think if it was dire they would have gotten you in sooner than 2 or 3 weeks from now. Calm down and enjoy being pregnant, congrats Mama!
