If you don't have a gynecologist you need to get one. An emergency room is not intended for ongoing treatment of your uterus.

Agreed, you should have a gynecologist. You should most likely be seeing a specialty gynecologist anyway if you have spina bifida. I'm unclear on how that may plan into having children in the future, but it's certainly a consideration. Instead of finding a surgeon, you should find a gynecologist who accepts Medicaid and go from there. They will either be able to perform the surgery themselves or they will have someone in their practice who does it.

As far as the fibroid -the rule is to leave them alone until they cause you problems. Yours is causing problems! If it's blocking your tubes, you couldn't get pregnant anyway. There are several different procedures they can do now to remove fibroids without doing a complete hysterectomy. Yes, it can lessen your chances of pregnancy or carrying a baby, but you have to treat the urgent need now and worry about that later.

Another thought -I know spina bifida varies in severity. Are you permanently disabled? Do you qualify for disability? If so, you should be going that route since you say you have no income.

Lortabs have tylenol (or acetaminophen) in them. If you are truly taking them every hour you are getting way more tylenol than you should have in a 24 hour period. Keep it up and you will have liver problems in addition to your current issues. Liver damage is common with tylenol, you should not take more than 4000mg in a 24 hour period. Lortabs have anywhere from 250mg to 1000mg, most have 500mg. Please only take medication as it is ordered! Are there any private hospitals in your area? I have worked at several catholic hospitals (generally hospitals with "st." in the name), most will work with ppl without insurance if you qualify as charity. I don't know what Novant is, but it sounds like state run insurance for low income? If so, the state dept of health should also be able to refer you to physicians that accept this form of payment.

I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you. But I did want to say that this situation doesn't seem right. It doesn't sound that safe to leave a baseball sized anything inside of anyone. I am coping your letter and forwarding it to my sisters to see if they have any advice for you. One is an ER nurse and the other is a fund raising director currently working with the homeless both in Detroit. I'll forward any info they send me to your email. Or if they write to you themselves their names are Bonnie P. & Sarah S. I'm send good thoughts and positive energy your way. Good luck and feel better.
