My 3 yr old son has had a fever of 104f/40.5c it last four days then goes away. it returns three to four weeks and has a fever for four days and goes away. this has gone on for three months now. He does not have any other symptoms. Blood and urine test are done and it does not reveal anything. he is checked for Dengue Fever, Malaria, Typhoid Fever and Urinary Tract Infection but he has nothing wrong. it gets expensive to have these test done every month with no insurance. has anyone had similar experience. During these fevers I make him home made Oral Hydrate and give him Probotic drinks like Yakult plus we give him Motrin every 6 hours to ease the temperature. while we live in Virginia we are currently stationed in Palawan Philippines that is why we have him checked for Malaria and Dengue Fever.

What can I do next?

I just did a quick look for you on webmd and came up with the above, although I am not a doctor and so it means very little. I would be a bit concerned and would push you pediatrician to find out what is going on with him.

Something similar is going around in the states even with adults. Perhaps hes having growth spurts. as long as youre able to keep him ok i think your fine, remember that a fever is the bodies natural defense for infection.

My Sister-in-Law's daughter gets fevers all of the time. She does have a neurological issue (Neurofibromatosis), but the doctor said that it is not necessarily related. Some children often get fevers as their way of fighting infections/sickness. Anytime her daughter is about to get sick she gets a fever for a day or two and then it goes away. You may just want to make sure that you are documenting your child's fevers so that when he gets to school they don't make him go home every time his temperature rises. Hope this is helpful.

Poor baby! Has he been checked for strep? That can produce a recurring fever with no other symptoms.

My daughter used to get fever like this due to ear infections. I finally had to have tubes put in her ears. Did they check for an ear infection?

I don't have much to offer except maybe he needs to have some help boosting his immunity. Try to get some Sambucol or elderberry. It is an anti-viral used around the world to fight influenza and other viruses. I get it at the local CVS pharmacy. I am not suer what you have in the Philippines but this is used around the world. I use it everyday and so do my children. If you order it online, you can get a children's version of the liquid but that doesn't really matter; they can take the regular one in a smaller dose. There is also a pill that melts on the tongue. Also, I would give him vitamin c and vitamin d3. These things all help the immunity work better. My rule of thumb for my own children...if they are eating okay, drinking plenty of fluids, playing, and just generally seem okay, I don't worry too much. When they have a fever I try to make them comfortable. And I feel like every time I go to the doctor, my kids pick up some virus so I try to keep them home as long as possible. Good luck. I know this is such a worry but you can handle it!
