M.3.
Thats when babies are most active, when you are not. When you are up moving around, you rock them to sleep. I cant wait for this to happen! Im only 16 weeks and lucky if I feel the baby twice a day. I would only worry if she isnt moving much.
Ok I'm 25 weeks along and i was wondering is it unusual too have a big increase in fetal movement? I'm use to her kicking but last night was just extreme. I got maybe an hour of sleep all night (in 5 minute intervals). I couldn't get comfortable for the life of me and her kicks actually hurt. She tends to kick up under my ribs which really hurt or just kicks/moves all night long. She's not my first but with my two boys I've never felt anything like this. So i've passed it all off as the "all babies are different" saying. My mom wants me to call the dr and get seen but I don't want to call if I there's no reason to. So is it normal or should I get it checked out?

I've heard that you should call the doc if there is a big burst of fetal movement followed by no movement. For instance, cord accidents. If the baby was being strangled by the cord in utero, it would be struggling and kicking ferociously and then the kicking would stop. Sorry. I know that is hard to hear. I am 28 weeks myself and it really disturbed me. But as long as the kicking is consistent, even though it frequent and painful to you, it probably isn't a medical emergency--just the way she is positioned. My little guy also has his feet stuck right under my ribs and it really hurts! Try to get some rest today (though I have two young girls and it is soooo much easier said than done, I know!).
I would have your doctor check you to be sure things are okay. At this point the baby can still move around a lot though and maybe this baby is just more active or maybe in position like facing out so you feel it more but if it was me I'd get it checked soon and then not worry. I had 3 breech babies and they tended to kick a lot more as the feet were out and hitting my stomach area. Of course at this point the baby will turn many times still. Get it checked.
it could be something you ate. My daughter would act up if I ate a lot of chocolate. I understand how those rib kicks hurt. I was driving home from work one day and had to pull over because she kicked so hard in the ribs my eyes started watering. It's too bad there's no way to rotate them around!
If you're really worried, call the doctor. I would be more worried about decreased movement than extra one night.
I am almost 31 weeks with my 2nd. I just had this conversation with my dr. This little one is so active at times, usually at night, and it HURTS when she does full sumersaults and shifts. I am getting a LOT of elbows and knees poking me. I remember the 'foot in the ribs' feeling, but this actually hurts on my tummy. The dr said it is a common complaint, and that some people say it could be because the muscles are streched out which makes it more sensitive. Most nights at around 3am I am awake (gotta pee always) and she makes it hard to get back to sleep. The DR said not to worry, activity is good.
At 25 weeks she's gotten much bigger and stronger than she was when you first started feeling her kicks. With my first son, I was usually awoken a few times during the night time by his movements. That's actually how I knew that there was a problem with him, when one morning I woke up and realized that I hadn't been kicked awake all night. We went to the hospital, and thank God that we did, as he was strangling to death in his cord and was almost dead by the time they got him out.
Don't worry about a lot of movement. Worry when you don't feel it. Hope this helps.
I'd chalk it up to all babies are different. It could have been what you ate etc. My first would stretch out and push on my diaphragm when I laid down. I felt like could Never catch my breath and it was an awful feeling! I'd really only be concerned if you weren't feeling movement.
Most moms feel quite reassured when they feel movement as opposed to not feeling any at all or not much. I'm 20 weeks and this is my 4th. My baby hardly moves and when she does, I get that feeling of reassurance that my baby is fine. I know it's difficult, especially when you are further along, the baby is bigger, you are understandably uncomfortable, and space in your tummy is getting cramped for that little baby. My first born moved around a lot at bed time. She did NOT like when I laid on a particular side and she'd move and move until I finally changed positions. The best I can offer is to change positions, I know, easier said than done when the best you can do is on your left or right side. The baby will eventually settle down. Do you have a rocking chair? I might suggest rocking for a while before your bedtime. It may soothe your baby to a more restful slumber for you.
I could be something as simple as the food you ate not agreeing with her or it could be extreme. I would call the doctor just in case. Better safe then sorry. They have heard it all!!
