My 9 year old recently started asking to take fencing lessons! Really - fencing? how do they learn what this stuff is? Anyway - where to start looking for fencing lessons- that are affordable and close! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
I don't know where you live, and I don't know how much it costs, but fencing lessons are offered at the North Richland Hills Rec. Center.

I don't know where.. just wanbted to say I had 2 elementary students who did fencing (they were cousins) and it was a good thing for them. They learned such manners and had healthy pride in their work- and it was fun to watch. One of the two would complain about the bruises but the other challenged him by saying "if you can't take, quit" and that usually ended the complaints.
Your child probably picked up on fencing with the recent olympics!

The North Richland Hills Rec Center has Fencing classes. They are located off of 820 adn Rufe Snow. They are starting a session right now, beginning Sept 4th. For 12 classes its $55. It looks like they have classes on Mon & Thurs @ 5:00 pm.

Don't know where you live but they have fencing for beginners at the Mansfield Activities Center (MAC) relatively cheap. There are many organized activities there along with the next level fencing as well. Hope this helps!

I'm sure he might have watched some of the Olympics. They had fencing there. Anyway, I don't know where you live, but we were recently at the North Richland Hills Rec Center, and there were several people there fencing. Maybe you can check w/the rec cent where you live, to see if they have fencing there.
He may have gotten the idea from the Olympics. My son was wanting the same. Now that the Olympics are over, he hasn't mentioned it as much. (Haven't researched it either...curious to see what responses you'll get!)
