Stress. I've always been told its about half and half physical and psychological. I can eat trigger foods and be fine but trigger foods and stress makes me miserable. Moving is a huge stress.
Does anyone know if there are other triggers for attacks, besides certain foods and hormones? I have had considerably more attacks this month than usual, and I haven't eaten any of my restricted foods nor is there a hormonal link to these particular attacks. I've been working with a specialist, but since we moved across the country, I don't even have a standard doctor yet, much less a specialist to call. Thank you!

Oh lord. IBS...so messed up! I HATE IT!!!
Stress and (TMI) my period! Holy mother. About a week before my period comes I am in the bathroom ALL the time. It's awful.
Maybe your trigger foods changed? I can't eat pancakes and lettuce really messes with me, same with carrots.

I definitely agree with stress being a trigger...for me its stress, alcohol or fried foods!
I was just wondering if you've ever tried taking a probiotic. I can't relate because I was told I only have 'a touch' of IBS but daily long term use of probitoics has helped tremendously but it took a couple of months before I noticed a difference.
Stress, just like everyone else has suggested. I've been using the FOD-MAPS way of eating, which has really helped, but a good bout of stress will bring on symptoms. Also, drinking any caffeine on an empty stomach during those stressful times can be a bad idea. (some IBS sufferers have to have food in their stomach before any liquids.)
I don't know if you've tried this, but Peppermint tea worked better for me than any prescription meds or diet changes. Stress is more of a factor than anything else, but Peppermint tea can help sooth your stomach. Good luck!
It could be your nerves or the stress of moving. Is there anything that is on your mind that is worrying you?
I don't know if this will work for you or be agreeable with your system. But "Cayenne Extract" has been beneficial for my Husband.
Perhaps research Cayenne Extract. This is the droplet form. Liquid drops.
Whole Foods and other natural food stores have it.
