Hi L., I have been a patient of Dr. Woods for almost 3 years. I am also an advanced practice nurse. The one complaint that I see with her that seems to be a trend among many docs is that they are branching out into "spa" medical treatments. The office seems to focus on laser treatments, facials, vein injections etc. As far as the medical care it has been good. I have not had any hospital procedures done (ie. surgery) so I cannot speak to her skill level. She does prescribe bioidentical hormones which I like and the majority of gyns in the area are not familiar with/comfortable with them. I recently asked a pharmacist what he thought about her and her office and he said she was alright but that he had seen better. For my needs right now she is fine....but you have to make your own choice.

YES! Dr. Wood has been my GYN for 6 yrs. She is wonderful - thorough, sensitive to your needs/concerns, doesn't make you feel rushed - what more can I say? I started seeing her when we moved to Frisco in 2002. I had 2 GYN's (one a female!)in the Sherman / Denison area that STRONGLY recommended a hysterectomy because of heavy periods causing anemia. Dr. Wood wanted to try a thermal ablation before subjecting me to a hysterectomy. It was 100% effective, and guess what - I've had no more problems at all! I am thankful to Dr. Wood that I still have a healthy uterus. A simple non-invasive out-patient procedure resolved my problem. I hope this helps you make your decision. I trust that you will be completely satisfied with Dr. Wood should you choose her to be your doctor! I am believing God's BEST for you! D.

p.s. I left the above response, then went back & read the other responses. Firstly, I want you to know that not one person has ever said ANYTHING to me at all about the products that Dr. Wood sells in her office. I will add that I have gone through menopause since I've been seeing her, so there's definitely been opportunity to try to market anti-aging products to me + although not obese, I'm not where I should be either... if you get my drift....:) Dr. Wood is awesome about giving samples, too for new RX's.

I have a ? for Marie H... Why would you ask a male pharmacist about a gynecologist? I wouldn't think he would be qualified to make that kind of evaluation... He fills prescriptions at the pharmacy - not there on-site to diagnose and treat... You know what I mean?

Another thing - you can choose to see Dr. Wood or her PA. It may take longer to see Dr. Wood, but if you have anything other than routine pap, etc - you may want to see her specifically. I told them I had a problem a they got me in earlier than I expected.

My daughter recently went to her for her very first (much dreaded) gyn exam, and Dr. Wood made her feel as comfortable as she possibly could.

Anyway, I really can't say enough great things about Dr. Wood. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! ____@____.com D........:)

L., I was a patient of Dr. Wood several years ago and had many reasons for deciding not to continue under her care. First, I was told by her Nurse Practicioner that I had I Polycystic Ovary Syndrom based on the fact that I am overweight and have somewhat irregular periods - this was prior to any exam, blood test or sonogram. I do not have PCOS but the fear and anxiety of her "diagnosis" was quite upsetting. Secondly, when I did see Dr. Wood, she recommended I take Juice Plus which she happened to sell in her office. This made me uncomfortable to have a doctor recommending something that she profits from, even if it is a great product and something I should be using. The final deciding factor for me was her very close association with all of the "spa" services she offered. I didn't feel like I could just go in there with my hairy upper lip, sallow skin, age spots and vericose veins and not have them judged.

All that being said, she was a thorough doctor. I have no complaints about her level of care, I just question her judgement to involve herself with the "beauty" part of being a woman. Women have enough pressures about our looks without having to worry about them at our Gyno appointments.
