I just love making cookies. But I find I make the same ones over and over. I'd love some new ideas. Anyone want to share their favorite cookie recipe? Thanks

One of my favorite things to do, because it is so quick and easy, is to make cake box cookies. Instead of making a cake by the directions on the back of the box, just at 1/2 cup of oil, and 1 egg to the dry mix. It makes cookie dough. Ball it up and roll in sugar, and you've got the softest cookies you'll ever eat!

My favorites- devils food mix, and add in peanut butter chips to the dough.
spice cake mix, and add diced apples to the dough, butter pecan mix with a whole pecan on top, or a vanilla cake mix with white chocolate chips and dried cranberries.

The best cookies I've ever had/made are Peanut Butter Surprise cookies. Use any peanut butter cookie recipe, roll the dough in golf sized balls around a rolo candy, roll the ball in sugar and bake as the recipe suggests. They are so good! And people cannot figure out how you were clever enough to get the chocolate and caramel inside the cookie. ;)

These soft oatmeal cookies on Allrecipes.com are fabulous:

Oatmeal cookies have now moved to the top of my favorite list after making these. I ended up making 5 batches the first week that I found this recipe. My sister made 3 batches that week.

Hi,

I have many recipes throughout all 3 of my cookbooks. What kind are you looking for---easy, fruity, chocolate, cinnamon, sugar, roll outs, roll-ups, drop cookies, etc.

The following is one of my personal favs, and a 'great dunker', as well as a source for getting a wee bit more fruits into your family's diets.

Mini Cinnamon Swirls

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

2/3 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
Mix cinnamon and sugar together and put aside in a separate bowl.

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) of butter, melted, and set aside
2/3 cup (1 1/3 sticks) melted butter or margarine
1/3 cup sugar
3 cups plus 2 tablespoons flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon milk
1/2 cup raisins (previously soaked in very hot water for about 10 minutes, drained and patted dry) and/or chopped walnuts, put aside
2 teaspoons of molasses

1. Mix together the 2/3 cup of butter or margarine, sugar, flour and baking powder while gradually adding the milk. Mix the ingredients thoroughly together.
2. When the dough begins to gather together in the mixing bowl, take it out of bowl and place the dough on a floured surface, knead 10-12 times.
3. Divide dough in half. With your hands flatten and gently
stretch the dough prior to rolling. Roll each half of dough into about a 18x10 inch square, (size does not need to be exact)
4. With a pastry brush or butter knife, distribute half of the melted 1/4 cup of butter all over dough. Sprinkle 1/2 the cinnamon sugar all over dough. Lightly trickle a little bit of molasses all over the dough, making sure that there are no clumps of molasses. Sprinkle the dough with raisins and/or chopped walnuts, optional.
5. Roll up from the long side of the dough into a long, tight jellyroll or cookie roll.
6. Grease 2 cookie sheets.
7. Slice the cookie roll into 1/2-inch pieces. Place each cookie onto prepared cookie sheets and lightly flatten with the palm of your hand. Sprinkle each cookie with a pinch of additional cinnamon sugar.
8. Repeat with the remaining dough.
9. Bake approximately 15 minutes or until edges begin to golden. Store these cookies in a plastic container to maintain freshness.

I don't know if you have heard of Jello pudding chocolate chip cookies. This web site has the recipe. What I like to do with this recipe is mix it up a bit, and add instead of the vanilla instant pudding or chocolate instant pudding, I add a different flavor of instant pudding. For instance, I have added the banana flavored instant pudding and have made banana tasting cookies, they taste like banana bread cookies. Or, I add the lemon instant pudding and omit the chocolate chips and I end up with lemon cookies. http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1840,157173-228200,00.html

My new thing is making sandwich cookies. I made some carrot cake cookies that were serioulsy to die for, Martha Stewart recipe I believe. You make them and then sandwich them together with frosting. I also did some red velvet cake ones and oatmeal cream pies too. My favorite cookie cook books are Better Homes and Gardens and Martha Stewart Cookies, FYI.
