Fashionista Emergency

I'm newly married and have picked up 25 pounds. I was a cute little flat stomached size 6 but now I'm a super curvy pot bellied size 8. Hubby loves the new curves but I have no idea how to make my new frame look fashionable.

I picked up some new cute tops but they make me look pregnant. (We are trying but not there yet.) People have approached me saying how happy they are for us and when are we due (rude and not cute).

So here I am asking my fashionista mammas what styles would look good on my new found figure? Thanks mammas.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to all my fashionista responders.

I went shopping or should I say was sent shopping by hubby. I tried on many things. The empire and A-line things totally didn't work because my stomach and breast stick out at about the same level. :-)

The wrap shirts worked much better because they seemed to draw the eye in a different direction. I do have a waist line so it was nice to see it.

I ended up buying a few great pieces to fill my clothing selections. Now I'm back to felling like a cute girl. ;-)

I am working on getting into better shape which doesn't necessarily mean loosing alll of the weight but basically rearranging the furniture (tightening the inner thighs and and stomach.) I love the new boobs this weight has given me. They are awesome but now that I actually have cleavage, I have to remember that when shopping for bras and tops.

Thanks again for your valuable input.

Dude, I'd put my effort in to loosing the lbs. I gained a good 15 after marriage. It made me very unhappy and no amount of new clothes or styles made it feel better. I realized that I couldn't adopt my husbands eating style and be happy with my figure. I put the kibosh on quick Costco pizza lunches, huge dinners and no exercise. He was bummed when I put my foot down and started cooking lighter and nixing his fast food requests, but my confidence in getting my figure back made up for it.

Go for tops and dresses with an empire waist (it starts right below your bust basically). These days they have cut tops in this style, that flow frilly and/or loose with plenty of fabric over the belly. Also, the tops that have wide "angel wing" sleeves - kind of like a kimono with a v-neck - very stylish and covers up a belly as well as "excess" upper arms. Lastly, remember, black is slimming and stay away from big prints and horizontal stripes (but I'm sure you already know that). good luck with the prego thing! (and boo to people who assume you are prego)

Not to knock Lola but empire waist is the kiss of death if you have a belly, which sounds like your tops were. They are only good for the shapeless. baby doll, empire all that is a no right now. A wrap top accentuates curves a round or v-neck fitted top also good. Jeans that do not give you a muffin top is key so button should be just below belly button. Flowy anything can make you look bigger than you are. Anything that cinches at waist, not too, tight is great as well. Sounds like hubby is digging the curves so play with it and have fun!

Go shopping at a thrift store until you lose the pounds. Cheap but thrilling.
