My six year old is talking baby talk while he is playing (mostly when he's by himself) and makes all kinds of rude noises. Like farts and raspberries and baby cries and monkey sounds and on and on. Is there something I should do or is it for attention? I don't give him the satisfaction of a retort. But it is very annoying. What can I do?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It's funny. Just when I thought I couldn't stand it anymore, he quit. Isn't that just like a kid?!!! Thanks for all the advice. I think I just overreacted. I don't like unneccissary noise so it was really driving me crazy. Thank you all again.

It sounds to me he's just using his imagination and enteraining himself. My son, is only 3.5, but he's constantly making wierd noises, and fart noises. He's doing it to be silly i think. I wouldnt worry, and try not to let it annoy you.

Hi S.!!

These ladies are so right. I have three boys and a little girl and all of them make noises of some sort and laugh and laugh about it. Must be absolutely normal!!!LOL We adults are the abnormal ones maybe. LOL We've lost the excitement of living I think and don't just let go and have fun like when we were kids. I wouldn't worry at all about anything.
God bless you!!!

Well, I am afraid to say it, but its a stage almost all kids go thru. It even has a term, according to my college professor back in the day, Potty Talk. lol Yes its annoy, but its just something they have to experiment with, and if you call too much attention to it, it could get worse. My advice, as long as he is playing by himself and in another room, then shut the door and walk away. If he is playing with you, just say something like, I dont want to hear that, play that way when you are alone, or something similar. I went thru it with my 7 yr old, and I joined in because lets face it sometimes it fun making rude sounds when no one can hear you and we had lots and lots of giggles together and it was a special time that we didnt share with anyone else (I wouldnt dare anyways) and so it got to the point where I knew he wouldnt do that in public. Now at 7, he thinks Im silly or weird or probably worse, when my daughter, who is 2, and I get silly like that. Good Luck!

Boys will be boys, my husband still makes farting noises once in a while (LOL) In my opinion as long as he is only doing it in play then don't even mention it to him. If he starts doing it out in public then it might be time for a discussion on what's appropriate! LOL. Kids have wonderful little imaginations don't they?
