I suggest that breakouts on the chin may indicate she needs to wash her hands more and touch her chin less. Does she lean her chin on her hands? And it's so easy to keep touching pimples.

One of our dermatologists recommendations is Purpose and Cetaphil

My 19yr old keeps a Clinique acne wash on hand for any breakout but she uses Clinique mild wash daily.

I like Clinique mild wash and Noxema.

First rule of thumb is keep hands off the face!!

Drink lots of water.

I took my daughter to the dermatologist when she was around 11 as a proactive approach to make sure we were doing the right thing and using good products, even tho my recommendations were based on info from my childhood dermatologist. My mom also took me to the dermatologist at an early age as a proactive approach. It helps!

Cetaphil, but you don't have to buy the brand one. I use the store-brand version of it (Rite Aid), and I like it.

ProActiv works quickly for most folk--about 3 days.

Aveeno active natural foaming cleanser pump is good.

Avoid sugar and fried foods for less breakouts. Drink water, less juice and soda.

Switch to dye / chemical free laundry detergent to clean pillowcase and sheets!

My daughter is 12, and has been using Murad cleanser (the kind for acne) for several years now. We bought it on the advice of our dermatologist. I had asked him if we should buy ProActiv and he said that most of his clients have not had satisfactory results with it - which is why he recommends the Murad cleanser. Anyhow, my daughter had a fair amount of acne, blackheads, etc when she started using it. About a week into using it, her skin had noticeably cleared, and now that she has been washing her face with it for several years, her skin is gorgeous. No acne whatsoever.

Also, if it's in your budget, consider a Clairsonic for her (just the Clairsonic Mia, she doesn't need the big, fancy one). It makes a HUGE difference no matter what cleanser you use. My daughter and I both use the Clairsonic, and loooooove it.

I second the suggestion of Purpose. It's very gentle. Also the Simple facial cloths are quite handy.

She needs a good substance that will exfoliate her skin then she'll need a ton of moisturizer.

Take her to the doc and ask them if she has built up keratin. This is the main cause of acne. If the pores are opened up and the keratin taken off the pores are open and need that moisture to keep them soft enough to allow the coming keratin to seep out and not gt plugged up in the pores again.

Our girl use Mary Kay masks as scrubs and then she uses one of their good moisturizers.

There are many different things you can do but once you find the one you like the best you'll need to keep her exfoliating every day. One friend uses baking soda and coconut oil. When she's done rubbing all over her face and massaging her skin to get the skin cells and keratin loosened she rinses it off in a warm shower. Then she uses more coconut oil and rubs a thing coat of it on her face.

You can google Keratosis pilaris. Read as much as you can and come up with some plans that you think will work. Try them for a while then change if needed. Here's one sight that explains it.
